PostSubject: 330-P4 Fujimi Kit   Sun 23 Jun 2013, 2:10 am

Hi Gents, first off I'd like to say sorry for how I up-loaded the pics, I haven't quit figured out this new photo up-load format.
This project started almost 6yrs ago. It's a curb side Fujimi kit, that won't do, neither would the one peice body. I cut the body apart at the panel lines. Added an engine block from some Revell Ferrari kit, I forget which one, and graphed it onto the kit trans alxe. I initially tried to run the exhaust from the stock location of this block which ran from under the heads up and around them, then out the back using the original location over the trans axle.
This proved to be far to difficult.

I had an idea to run the exhaust out the intake side of the heads. First off I wanted to find out if Ferrari ever built such and engine.

This is what I found " />.
So with that sorted it was time to make the exhaust. That's it for now.

Man you are off to a great start on this one. Is the coil over shock a kit part or scratch built?

Super work!  Fujimi weren't the best kits, but what you're doing adding quality detail is worth applause!
As far as my memory goes, Ferrari had exhausts on the lower half of engines and the intakes/injectors above.  They had a V-6 F-1 engine for a time, but I can't recall the design.  Thankfully, the Net seems to have fotos of pretty much anything if one can type in the right searches.  Best of luck and thanx for the dedication to a nice supercar.

Nice job on the harness hardware. That stuff can be small and a bear to work with.

The harness looks great Curt but I have three suggestions to make if I may:

Tape makes great belts but it looks like you need to colour the edges to match.

They look a bit 'rigid' as they are, try pushing them down with your finger to get them to lay naturally, add some glue to hold them down if need be.

For added realism, why not add the adjuster. 'tags' like I did on my Austin Healey Sprite Club Racer?

Thanks for the comments.
As per Al's suggestion I'll add in the adjusters before it the final assembly.

A few timely suggestions before finishing a kit is good.  That's how these WIPs can help not just the builder, but all of us watching the model come together!  It's going to be a great one when it's done!!

I totally agree with comments/suggestions being able to benefiting not only the builder but all who are following along with a build. I have no problem hearing any comments from any one, in fact I welcome them. I have a ton to learn seeing as I build many kits to a certain point then box them up so my skill set is all over the place.

Thanks Denis, still have quite a ways to go before it'll be done.

I've been able to get a bit more done.

Cooling lines added, they'll have the aeroquip fittings when done. I subbed in a rad from the parts bin, the kit rad didn't fit with the PE fan.
The shell was painted....but....is now soaking in Mr. Clean. The paint didn't lay down smooth enough, too humid when I shot it.

I'm going to have to re-shoot the black, it's semi-gloss that may not have been mixed enough, too much shine.

That's it for now, thanks for looking in.

Thanks guys for the support.

The body is on hold for now. The paint is stripped off the shell but for some reason the automotive lacquer primer is also lifting, I'm going to toss it in some Easy-Off and start again.
