the latest thing on the bench

armour is something im getting more and more into, this will be my 3rd serious armour build

plan is to do a pre '43 panzer grau scheme and then try the hair spray technique to produce a white winter camo job

I remember this one- still got it on the shelves. I was into armour big time, but in mid '80s Australia , Tamiya kits were dear as poison, so I got back into cars.

The panzer gray scheme is a good call, since the kit is of an early version with the short 75mm gun.

I think that any Ausf D versions that survived long enough to receive the later paint jobs would have been upgunned & uparmoured.

Keep us updated.

Cheers,

Chris

He looks sad. When his tank is ready maybe he will be happy.

somethings thats always bugged me about models in general, not just armour, is the light weight. after all most models are just hollow plastic boxes. something ive done to braille scale tanks is put some plasticine inside to add some mass, it helps make it sit on the tracks, thought id try the same trick with this but rather than plasticine i pilfered a few sizeable nuts from work today and super glued them into the hull

so i drilled a hole in the bottom, glued a nut inside, inserted a bolt from underneath.....this has given me a 'handle' to hold while i paint........once done all i do is unscrew the bolt leaving the nut behind

a block of wood with a hole makes a stand.........had a shot of primer

bit of preshading............im not a fan of preshading, mainly cos once ive shot the colour all that shading is gone lol lol

coat of panzer grau...........needs another tomorrow when i can do it in daylight, never seems to be the same when i do it in artificial light

Great start and nice thing about WWII is the variety of paint jobs as well as the different versions as technology rapidly changed.
As for the commander, I'd be sad too if I had a crew of nuts in my tank! No wonder they lost.

Not into armor, but all those cool parts make it look like quite interesting stuff to build.
Nice work and tips (weight)
