Don, its not going to be modeled after any specific 1:1. Just going for a look. Low, sleek, and injected y-block.

Because my two engines are different, I'm not finding stuff that matches. :(
I found only 1 intake manifoldw/carb. I have a couple of the dual intakes that came with the Riley conversion, but I'm not going that route. So, as this crappy foto shows, I'm scratch/bashing up a set.

And, I'm working on setting up the exhaust (s). And going to the electronics, I only have 1 'distributor/rotor'. One of the engines isn't set up for this kind of ignition, so I'm setting it up for these (rotors?) that I'm scratching.

Clay I moved this one for you. Hope you don't mind.

Nice it's cast in white. All the other ones of this kit I have built have been Blue plastic. Can't wait to see what you do with it John.

Clay those intake setups look just right, as do the distributors.

While at the GSL, I received the kit that I will use for the Bonneville VW bug. Kit is by Aoshima. Here is a photo of the kit, along with the magazine photos.

The kit is quite disappointing, as it is almost a curbside model. It does have a rudimentary interior, but no opening features and no engine. At least it gives me the Super Beetle body. So it looks like it will be time to rob some parts from one of the several Tamiya VW kits I have, for the engine/trans, and some of the rear of the car. Also will have to open up the rear decklid. Going to be more work than I planned, but that is the way it goes.

Looking forward to seeing more on the '57 Sam!
The '34 So-Cal Coupe was the 1953 Record Holder at Bonneville, with the speed of 172.749 MPH. This was accomplished with a Merc 258 CU Ardun Flat Head equipped with a GMC 4-71 supercharger and 4 Stromberg #48 carbs, giving it 400 HP.
I'll be using the 34 Ford block, with a 6-71 blower and as close to original as I can. Dupliclor White and Fiery Red.

As you can see from the photo, the engine sits way back in the firewall to accommodate the blower in front.

I like that, Dog !!!! Gonna be sweet !
As for mine, I messed a little with engine detailing, and figured I ought to look at the body before I go too far. I want to get the engines mounted and set 'er up on wheels.
I have two roadster bodys from the salvage yard. I figured the squared off back one would fit my vision better. After this foto, I narrowed it where it is marked. Not too excited about it. I'm starting to look a little harder at the contraption that Skid posted.

Today, dinky stuff, like working on the plumbing for the engines.
I have officially crap-canned the idea of having an open roadster and find myself drifting ever more towards the car that Skid came up with. Being a highschool expelee, I have no access to trig, geo, calculus, or any useful mathematic knowledge. Acing two years of Algebra before my scholastic career was abruptly ended, I have found that for over 60 years, algebra has never proven to be helpful in any way....
Where the hell was I? Oh yeah, Not being sure how to lay this stuff out, I am trial and error ing it. So, not to jeprodize my dwindling stash of sheet styrene, I'm turning my experiments to cardboard.
Here is where I'm at. I think I finally have a handle on how to proceed. We'll see. :drunken:
