I'll join in with this kit.  Nothing really started, just parts off of the trees.

Good man Paul, I've done a Tamiya version, never seen the Fiujimi one before.

The livery looks the same.

I may go with a different kit.

I ordered a fuel injection intake manifold set from Arrowhead Aluminum on 12/09/17, and it has yet to arrive. I'm not real happy with them, as they are not answering my emails as to what the issue is

I really need it so I can mock up the engine, to see where I need to cut the hood to clear the injector stacks.

Great looking kit Paul.

Luv the Tyrrell P-34. At the time some said the double wheels should've been at the back, but others thought the lower profile fronts with double brakes up front would rule. If it had dominated the circuits it probably would've been banned.
I, too, have the 1/20th Tamiya kit, but know nothing of the other one. Best to you on a great and unusual choice!

The problem with the car was that the small front tyres weren't developed into the second season and the big rear slicks were stickier meaning understeer, so they had to revert back to the previous years rear tyres.

Avon have since remade them though.

My limited progress. I won't be doing it as per the box art, never a fan of that livery. Instead I have ordered Camel livery. This kit couldn't really get any more basic, a great starter kit for a newbie.

I forgot to take pictures of the sprues, sorry guys.

First order of business is to get rid of the sad kit headlights. I am going to use a Fujimi 356b/c for some donor parts.

The body is made up of 5 individual parts, so lots of body work on this one.

I am also going to put back the original rear wheel openings. Revell radiused th openings on this racer version. Very poorly I might add.

There are several severe sink holes and tons of flash on this release of this kit.

Wow, that shell is a mess. Good luck Mitch straightening it all out.

Nice work fixing up the body shell. The Fujimi 356 seems it would have been an easier choice.

My initial work has been collecting the parts that were missing from the Camaro:  Front and rear suspensions and roll cage.

1.  Starting off ... as I looked at build ups of the Camario on the web I noticed that all kits in this series carried a common frame and roll cage.  With the Camaro, when the kits roll cage was installed it appeared too wide; it was this pressure that kept the body secure on the frame.  Since that cage was missing, I decided to add a strip of styrene to aid in securely mounting the body to the frame ... otherwise the body was very loose.

2.  I had two scrap mid 90's Monogram NASCAR Monte Carlos ... I grabbed some of the parts from these for the Camaro.  I modified the rear to fit the car then to cut a relief in the chassis for it square up.  Also, the rear frame extension was cut off as it did not fit the kit (My guess it was for the longer versions of in this series).  I also added two supports for the rear bulk head.

3.  The kit's seat seemed too small to me so I modified a monogram unit for the smaller 1/25 scale.

4.  I modified a piece from a Monogram parts car for the front of the roll cage, added a frame extension to the front.   I like the dual shocks in the Monogram kits so I added mounts on the frame and roll cage to the use them.

5.  The kit's frame was originally two parts with the rear connecting in front of rear suspension.  Whoever put together the kit didn't line up the rear section of the frame well ... this created a sag visible below the body line.  As opposed to blowing it apart, to tuck it up I cut to reliefs just after the rear and bent it upwards and secured it with super glue and milliput.

6.  Here are the parts I have completed and they are ready for final finishing then paint. I filled in the front frame with milliput (it was an open C-Channel). The kit had no front suspension so I grabbed one from the parts box and glued it in place the scratched up some front spindles.  The roll cage was much modified from parts box items.  The dash (which the kit never had) was made from a monogram rear-shelf item and scrap plastic.  Finally, a relief was added to the passenger side of the rear bulk head (it was visible through the side exhaust cut out in the body).

7.  Here is a mock up of where I am at.  Note the round stock added to where the roll cage mounts to the frame.  I was over zealous when fitting it to the body and it sat too low.  This added the few scale inches that I cut away and aids in the final assembly.

I need to get progress shots, (what little progress there has been), but freakin' arctic blast #2 has hit.

It's a balmy 6F right now. It was -2F when I left for work at 7:00AM

Going from a 72F house to a 40F garage, to get to the basement, is a little bit of a shock.

With two cats and no way to keep them out?

I can block them from the basement.

I was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt Saturday night. Painting is going to be the real challenge, if it doesn't warm up to the 30's and stay. The basement will stay in the low 60's if it's mid 30's out.

Nice work on the Camaro, I hope you have the JEGS decals

I know right? I think silver plastic is the worse for sink holes too. The pin marks and flash are bad too.

Nice and clean job Shay.

I got some paint on too. Did the decals and started some assembly.

I'm trying to get the ride height right.

Mitch: Those rims look fantastic and go perfectly with the car.

I have finished prepping the Gazelle. Some front end work remains on the Mongoose. The Gazelle received its' base color of gloss aluminium. The paint scheme is simple; a flat black bonnet, and black side trim.

Everyone's painting here and I'm feeling way behind.  I planned to use the color of the plastic and clear it over.  The color is nice and dense.   But Tamiya put a wrench in that plan.  I guess they had the basic Tyrrell released already when they decided to release the Monaco version.  This required slight changes to the side plates of the rear wing and also the seat piece of the body.  The side plates should be blue, so what did they do?  Added supplemental parts on a WHITE sprue.  So, I'm waiting for a can of Tamiya TS15 to arrive by mail.

I have worked on the motor and trans, though.

I'm going to be crazy and do a three color paint on mine. I saw a picture of a 37 Chevy coupe gasser on Instagram (albeit it was black & white) which gave me the inspiration.

It had stars on the fenders & hood, which I'm not going to attempt, unless I can find a decal sheet of white stars.
