PostSubject: Ford Ranger (Mobeius)   Thu 16 Nov 2017, 5:26 pm

I started this last week and will be working on it off and on.

I have completed the frame and chassis.  It went together well with little to no flash.

I still have some hand painting to do on this subassembly.

Next I have started prepping the body.  This is where I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the model.  There are an unbelievable number of ejection marks that will have to  be sanded out.  In many of them portions of the engravings will be destroyed and have to be replaced as they will be visible in the completed model. The following photos show the ejection marks marked in red.

This is the underside of the truck bed.

The side panel of the truck bed.  Most of these marks will be visible on the finished model.

The inside of the cab and the engine compartment. Doesn't this look like fun.

I'll be sanding for some time and will post again when I have something to show.

Holy ejector pins Batman!

People complain about AMT kits, but I've not seen an old AMT that was that bad.

For modern molds, tooling & kit cost, it should not be like that

I wonder if it was the pilot episode. It had a different actor that played Rocky.

Wow, what a moulding mess. The truck itself evokes fond memories of my youth, back when riding in the open truck bed was a thing we did - or of various farms I visited. Best of luck dealing with the 'visible' moulding crapola.

Im sure you will sort it John, extra work though I agree and could be avoided by better design.

I will be watching this one. That's shame about the pin marks. I wonder what could be done differently so that there aren't as many.
