PostSubject: 57 Plymouth - Christine   Wed 11 Oct 2017, 2:16 am

My building from the salvage parts is dwindling down. Aging eyes and  thin selection of usable parts putting a crimp on me.
My birthday this last July brought me a BRAND NEW model kit !!
Can I handle that?...... I guess not ! Can't stand the thought of building a cool car and have it riding on STOCK wheels. Extremely UNcool !

I have only 1 set of matching wheels left in the salvage tire yard. And wouldn't you know it....DONKS !!! I hate donks ! But stock wheels ain't gonna get it for me. I must have used the tires that were with the donks for something else. They would have been too wide anyway. I found a set of narrow tires that fit the donks, and will only use the front wheel halves, faking out the backsides with drums for the rear and discs for the front.
So, some severe suspension modifying. I did try to dress up my cobbling on this one and tried to  dress them up with suspension parts. The front axle tubing is riding on the top of the frame, while the plastic rear axle is glued tight to the underside of the kickup in the rear. Don'ks will ride just about right this way. Hopefully, I can build(assemble) the rest of the model the way it was intended.

Nice start! And I know what you mean about the cool/uncool thing. Many times I've seen that sort of thing in real life and felt a purely subjective shudder. Looking forward to seeing where you take this.
