This is one of my favourite old Jo-han kits, the shell is painted and polished in the colours of a private Ambulance back in the day, I have two sets of decals so I hope to make them work.

Many thanks to Geoff who did a fantastic job on doing the bmf for me many years ago, and to Mark who provided the two missing rooflights. The contents of the box look like a disaster area. lol

I dunno, starting off cheating already Shay!!!

To-day I spent some tiome getting my hobby room sorted out, it had got into a right old mess since Justine was taken into hospital last October, so now maybe my modelling mojo may return.

I have decided not to do the 1:16 Ford Model A pickup at the moment but decided on this to 'ease' myself back into the groove:

I'm planning on going down the 'well used' rusty look for a change.

Well I've made a start. Feels good to be back at the bench.

As I'm going to rust up this one, I went ahead and assembled the complete chassis. It will be sprayed satin black then weathered up. Wheels are just on for mock up and to test it sits level.

I was nearly going to say it Al! lol

I found the remains of two cans of Ford Diamond white, so hopefully that's it, I haven't painted anything white apart from the 32 3 window.

Here's my entry for this build.

The engine halves have been glued together and the front suspension fitted but apart from that its unstarted.

I may change the wheels as I'm not keen on those supplied with the kit.

I came across this one on the web and it has become my inspiration:

So off came the bed:

And since I don't anticipate and body fit problems (FLWs... LOL) on went the paint:

Very nice start, Al.

I'm getting in on this one with an oldie.  The 1926 Mack Bulldog dump truck.  I had originally planned to convert this one, but I'm currently undecided.

Let's see how this kit from 1974 goes together.

I have this kit myself Mike, only the tanker version.

I plan to convert it to a rusted out wrecker so I'll be very interested in following you're progress.

I've decided to build this one as a colorful stocker in new condition. I haven't collected enough of what I need for a well-used mobile crane version. And there's enough of these kits available.

Got a bit of work done on the dump truck.  So far a nice kit to work with.

The cab is glued together except for the top to allow the seat to be lowered in.

Engine painted - still needing detailing.

The multi piece frame ended up slightly askew leaving one wheel off the ground.  The front axle has a long mounting tab that goes into the springs, so that was used to level the wheel problem.

Nice work Mike. That little grubbiness on the engine works real well.

Got my new computer up and running no so here is an update to my truck. I made a home spun flatbed for it using Basswood.

A little update here.  Got the engine in and the drive chains on.  Wheels are still a loose fit - and it still sets on all four!

Chose a cream and brown paint scheme and currently working on that.

Got the bed weathered up some by 'scraping' with a wire brush and dyeing with a home brewed concoction of Isopropyl and Inian ink. (Thanks to JohnJ) May do a bit more yet including adding some oil stains.

Weathered bed looks good, Al.

Me, I've been having problems getting the cab to set on the frame properly.  There's a big gap between the hood and the frame which I don't think should be there.  I don't see any way around it, so a homemade spacer may be the answer.  Everything else seems to fit properly.

On my Tanker version box art, there is a small gap there too, although not as big as yours. Seems to me that maybe the engine is a tad to high? Could you take out the engine to try the hood and radiator for fit without them?

The bed still looked a bit to clean so I added some more grey wash and a few oil stains.
