PostSubject: Re: 57 Chev salvage bashup   Fri 23 Jun 2017, 9:14 pm

I recently went back to Scale Auto forum and showed a couple of my latest with not very much response.
I was brought up short today and made to realize why I quit there, and  the few modeling sites I have ventured into.
I suppose I'd better stick exclusively here where you all know what a dingbat I can be.
Even with admitting my goof on the fuel pump and asking, 'Can I just let it slide?"
I get this response.

_______________________________________________

"Not really. There's a few things wrong with your engine.

Carburetors don't require high pressure cam driven fuel pumps. Those are for fuel injection. It needs to go. It wouldn't work anyway being mounted to the water pump. They mount to the end of the camshaft. Just route your fuel line from your carbs to your stock fuel pump.

The water pump also wouldn't work as it has no belt to turn it. You could make an electric water pump or modify the one you have and convert it to an electric pump.

An engine with a blower and dual carbs really needs a set headers or it defeats the purpose of having them. Blowers push more air through an engine. That air needs to be able to escape. Manifolds wouldn't allow that effectively. Maybe make or find a set of fenderwell headers."

That's it. No more wandering around!
Thank to you guys here for putting up with me !

I liked that idea for sectioning the body Clay, shame it didn't work out!

That white body is in line for a future something , maybe. I have absolutely nothing to go with it, like bumpers, windshield, etc,. We'll see.

I think it looks brilliant Clay and for what its worth I find your work interesting and entertaining. I too have left several forums and Facebook groups because of inflammatory or derogatory comments.
Its just a sad fact that there are millions of tools in the world and a lot of them are people.

Honestly Clay, there are some model car Nazis around, half my models wouldn't run if they were real.

Ignore them and keep going.

Just keep on keeping on. We don't care if it cranks and runs, it rocks and that's even better.

Sorry, I missed your last post before making my last post clay!!!

Man there are some sorry people in this world!! At a guess I would say he is suffering from OCD and is something of a 'perfectionist'. I know about the latter as I used to be that way and let me tell you, it's NOT a good place to be as you are NEVER satisfied with ANYTHING you do, and that makes for a very unhappy life.

Being a counsellor, my wife got me to realise this and change my thinking......... and thank goodness she did. My life now is SO much happier.

He needs help IMO.

SO........... carry on with your modelling just the way you are, Skid's Place loves to see them, warts and all.

It's your model, do it your way, and screw anyone who thinks it's wrong!!

First of all the mods look great and I am looking forward to seeing what you've got planned or, barring that, how inspiration diverts you onto a new path.

As for the response - I 'vetted' many sites before I chose EScale because of the nature of my current project. After EScale's unfortunate demise I was sure I'd never find another place like it ... then I remembered Al's site (which is here). And I am Very Very Happy this place exists.

I can understand the need for 'perfectionism' but draw the line at demanding it of others just because I happen to feel that way. It's been my personal experience that the detractors and harsh critics often do not post/display examples of their own work to accompany their negativity - this in itself is a red flag as far as I am concerned.

I'd rather surround myself with a group of relaxed and happy hobbyists than a bunch of tense, bitter harpies.

Build on and bring the Weird!

Got a decent coat of paint finally, in spite of the Florida humidity. Now this baby will give those Molotow chrome pens a workout.

Beautiful work! The chrome pen looks really good and really pops out the detail accents.
