That's looking good Paul. I can clearly see the effect of the pre-shading.

The diesel is mostly complete. I used AK Interactive Oil Stains acrylic for the first time. It is quite different from all other acrylic products I have used. Next will be the trans and various components to finish out the engine bay.

I've had a number of things interfering with this project.  I still want to complete a diorama, but have decided that the Tiger I is just too big for the thing I intend.  Instead I intend to complete this.

The size of the Hanomag lends itself to a more correct size for the intended diorama. I'll post more as available.

The first element of the diorama will be a German field kitchen.

John; the field kitchen is unbelievable. Great work, and I like the choice of the Hanomag.
Paul; looking very good

As for mine; The crew compartment is now complete with the addition of some 76 mm shells.
So, on to installing the power plant and drive train. The diesel and aft bulkhead installed easily. The drive train is a very tight fight. It required installing the reduction gear first, followed by the transmission. The trans required prying apart the hull to fit the axles inside and at the same time connect it to the reduction gear. All went well, but as you can see, very close fits all the way round. I think I can finally start working on the upper hull.

Very nice weathering, again, Cole. Glad nothing went awry when prying the trans in. They might have designed it that way to give you the scaled-down experience of a real transmission change.

It's looking good Cole, the oils stain wash looks realistic. What did you use on the exhaust manifolds?

Just bought this kit with the clear upper hull for a song at a recent model show.

Field kitchen looks very realistic John.

This dragon kit is nicely detailed but sadly lacks proper location pins/points in a lot of places. This makes for slow going which is why I haven't posted much of it.

I now have the front and rear bodywork well underway and it looks like I am going to have some fettling to do, to get them to fit to the chassis/each other properly.

The lower metal barrel for the mortar was missing from the kit, so I had to scratch up a one from the nearest dia styrene I had available.

Well done Paul.

Al; Now I remember this kit. I had considered buying it for a previous group build. Aside from the issues you have encountered, it's shaping up nicely.

For the T-34 I have been trying AK Interactive products. The exhaust manifolds were given a base coat of Alclad Steel. Then I applied AK Light rust enamel.

You'll be familiar with the saying, 'Into each life a little rain must fall'.

Well a whole monsoon just dumped itself on me tonight!!!!!!!

When I tried to fit the bonnet, I realised something was off. Very off. The right side panel at the front was way to high as you can see in this photo:

The wing should have followed the line on the side panel as indicated by the yellow arrow. And of course, it was well 'MEK'd' in. I set about applying more MEK to soften the joints and did get it apart but boy what a mess:

I'm very tempted to scrap it but will rebuild it as best I can. Maybe some very heavy weathering can be applied to reduce the impact!!!!!

You could always carry on by covering the affected area with stowage - tarps, tent, add'l fuel cans, things for a lonely life in the desert. The greater part of it looks too good to trash.

Wack some mud on it Al and no one will be the wiser.

Is it too late to join in with this?

of course not....as long as the build is started within the specified GB time its ok......the GBs are openended to allow late finishers

you might want to have a look at the calendar and see whats coming along, theres a new GB next month

Well the rebuild went pretty well considering the mess I made of it.

Bonnet is now lined up and I used the 'open' grille with P/e vents, beaten up a little.

Not content with messing up the bonnet, I go and make a dirty great MEK fingerprint on the re-build!!

But with the instalation of the tool box and a little sanding, I think I have managed to at least minimise the damage. I should be able to cover the remaining damaged portion with a bit of stowage or suchlike!!

Great fix on the hood and fender, Al.

Could a small piece of PE sprue or thin styrene cover the smeared area?

That is a great save Al.

Dryzoneau; glad to have you joining in, and I will be interested to see your entry.

I finished one project on another web site, so now I should have more time to devote to the T-34. A mock-up of the wheels went with no problems. So now I have begun on the upper hull. Lots of small, fragile pieces to attach, but this is what makes it a pastime for me.

Back at it once again. Since the hull is composed of a removable top half, I decided to begin weathering the lower half in preparation for installing the tracks. This is just the initial treatment; things are going to get worse.
My first time using this product from GSI Creos. It actually has the consistency of mud. It goes on quite dark, then lightens as it dries. The mud can be built up in layers, or thinned using Mr. Color Thinner.

The first coat of paint for the turret and upper hull. After a clear coat, I will finish out the interiors of both.

The markings, such as they are. Though illiterate in Cyrillic, I find the written language visually appealing.
