Nice choice Paul. Shame you are not doing the interior.

These two are my entry. They will be set in a WWII North African desert dio:

I will be taking the easy route with this one, using the supplied rubber tracks. I am making this for an acquaintance, they will be deciding on the time frame and camouflage scheme. I may be adding figures as well.

Nice choice Cole, will you be winterising it?

Great choice John, looking forward to the dio.

The Willys Jeep I posted above will now be used in a future LRDG dio where it is more appropriate and will be replaced with this one:

Not a lot to show yet but just a little progress. The kit comes with an engine and a coil, but strangely, no dizzy, so I made one from one of those sprue 'nodule' thingies. LOL

Engine installed in chassis.

Al: The person I'm building this for selected the following scheme which shows all green. However, the time frame listed is February, 1943. So I would imagine there was snow still on the ground and that some form of winter camouflage would be in order.

Previously I said I would be taking the easy route, using the kit supplied rubber tracks. I have had very little success with said tracks, so I will be trying something new. I have placed an order for individual link metal tracks. It should add a lot to the finished product. Also, I will be adding a tank crew of five figures, courtesy of Master Box.

In the meantime, sprue shots and the first assembly consisting of the interior bulkheads and suspension parts.

I managed to get back to the bench tonight and finished off wiring the engine plus detail painting. It will get a wash of some sort and some touch up before installing the bodywork.

Looking good Al and will look even better after a wash.

The road wheel suspension and associated interior bulkheads are now installed. Much of the interior equipment is separate from the bulkheads and will allow for good detailing.

slowly making progress.....life and work getting in the way as normal

done my usual trick of bonding in a nut so i can use a threaded bar as a handle, and also bonded in some ballast to give the whole thing some mass, so it 'sits' on the rubber tracks better

Good work Cole... looks to have a well detailed interior.

Paul.... turn the wick on the airbrush right down and have at it with the pre-shading. It's not as hard as it appears.

Plodding along with the chassis. There are lots of parts and so progress is slow. Almost there now though:

Dragon have come up with a novel approach to the tracks on this one:

Nice progress Paul.
Al; that is an interesting design, one that I like. I'm sure you will enhance it further with paint and weathering.

As for mine, I have begun the first round of weathering. This is my first use of Mr. Hobby Red Oxide primer. It should lend itself well to further ageing on the engine compartment and hull.

Cole:  Great interior.  I'm really lookin forward to seeing this completed.
Al:  That's a unique concept for the treads.

Thanks John.
A mock up of the diesel; this has great potential for detailing. And the cast metal tracks I'll be using. It's a good thing for me there is no deadline for this build.

That's a beauty of an engine, Cole. Great detail.

Best of luck with the tracks - I see you have to drill the holes for the pins yourself!

Thanks Mike. Yeah, that's why I included the instructions. I will tackle that later on in the build. The crew compartment is nearly complete. I need only add the 76 mm shells and more weathering. Next is the diesel and engine compartment.

Nice work on the weathering Cole. I love the seats, they look spot on. Didn't realise that these tanks had so much red in them. Nicely detailed engine.

Nice job on the pre-shading Paul.... maybe a tad on the light side but still looks good.

Not got a lot done in the last 11 days but this is where I am at right now. Still a small chassis extention to the front to add, then it's on to the bodywork.

Paul; I know what you mean regarding pre-shading. So far it looks great.
Al; The track assembly really looks good now that it's attached to the chassis.

Looking forward to more from both of you.

Al, the tracks look really nice.

Keep up the good work, guys.
