1965 Ford Mustang AMT 1/16 Scale

A very early start on this engine.

I loved this kit! I built one in orange back in the early 80's, used wide tires and wheels on the back from a trike kit of some kind. Wound up giving it to one of my daughter's girl friends that was a gear head!

On the front axle, I always fill the holes in the engine and use either a cut section of the metal axle or sprue to make a pin for the front wheels.

Hi Trucker, I've already filled the blatant holes in the block. I'm really struggling with the detail on this engine. The belt was especially bad. I'm sure the instructions tell you to put the carbs on backwards contrary to all pictures I've seen.
I'm still having fun with it though.

What you really needed is the engine from the 1/16 AC Cobra kit!

Great beginning, the engine so far looks fantastic. I loved 1/16 scale back in the day, but I never built a Mustang, mostly the 'Vette's. Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Thanks all, I struggled just to make the brackets and gearing for the alternator/power generator thing, sort of "That will do, it looks kind of right" attitude then I go and look at the steampunk Harley and think "This is the level I should be aspiring to".

I like the engine so far David. What did you use for the oily wash on the bolts?

It's not a wash as such just some shades of brown merged in with yellow.

A little more prog. I've knocked up some linkages from spare bits and staples.






I used that Molotow liquid chrome on the filler cap. I'm impressed with the result so much so that I've done the exhaust manifolds with it too.

When I see the engine I'm reminded of how despite the size,the details are so often short of hopes. Manufacturers just didn't care that much about "sweating the details," not enough profit in making them really good.

I've finished up the fuel lines


I've made some gear linkages from metal.

I'll think about putting some colour on the exhaust manifolds next.

Those 1/16 amt oldies take a bit to make them look good. Your engine is looking great.

The twin carbs will be covered by the big shiney Cobra air cleaner, or have you got other plans Dave?

How are you trying to paste a quote David? There are tree ways to do it.

I select quote from top right of post, type what I want then send. Like this.

All wired up, the green ones are just placeholders for other pipes when it's in the body.
