Brilliant, just the right amount of weathering.

Nice work all the way D!

I was going to suggest a belt made of three layers of masking tape to give it some thicknes but you can barely see it anyway!!

So lets sum up what I've done. Alternator from a 2005 Ford Mustang, tensioners from a 1969 Dodge Charger, belts made from masking tape, ECU from a 1995 Dodge Viper, Throttle linkage from the Viper, wiper motor scratch built, clutch fluid bottle scratch built, dipstick from brass wire, power steering pump and air compressor scratch built, injector wire cover from a Ferarri 360 and all hoses and wires sourced from spare parts. Lead wire used on the firewall and a metal transfer from chrome from an unknown Tamiya kit and finally the battery decal from a Lamborghini Countach. I hope it sounds as though I know what I'm talking about.

You've done a great job on the engine, I have one of these built up and the box stock engine looks very basic.

Yeah it is pretty plain. I think Tamiya should stick to curbside. Any chance I could have a look at your build? maybe pick up an idea or two.

A fairly basic interior which I don't think warrents much attention as it will be mainly hidden.

No under bonnet shots! Porshce GT2 rims, they would never work in real life,
and I'm missing a driveshaft so it's 3 wheel drive lol

Loving the work on the chassis and engine bay! The weathering/rust/wear is beautifully executed and provides excellent contrast with the clean interior - much like cars in real life.

I actually see a red one (not a GT4) with bigger BBS alloys and the extensions to the rear spoiler around here from time to time, it looks quite similar to my model which is weird! LOL

Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. You know, this build is bringing back a lot of memories for me. I spent ages sourcing the thing from Japan, getting it ready for the roads over here, registering etc then when it arrived having to remove the speed limiter, fitting rear fogs, recalibrating the speedo, fitting an alarm for the insurance purposes and a whole lot of other work and money and I intended to keep the thing for good. I had it four years then things went mammories up for me. So to be honest, I'll be glad to be done with this build so I can put it to rest.

Good for you lad. I know It's pretty easy to get these grey imports insured nowadays but what a pain it was back then around 2000.

Never had a problem insuring it, they just priced it the same as an MX-5 even when I told them, mind you it was never cheap, the gouge you for soft tops. It's over the 25 year limit here for classic car insurance now, I must get it taxed and tested again.

I'd imagine the Celica had a bodykit that would be hard to find and repair?
