PostSubject: Revell Citroen 2CV Sausss Ente   Thu 16 Mar 2017, 2:54 pm

While waiting for my photo etch scissors to arrive from China, I really couldn't go any further with the Chrysler 300, so before I have to put my modelling on hold, as I'll soon be busy with my photography, and won't have too much time for model making, so I've started this, but probably won't get it finished until later in the year, It's going to be airbrushed in Citroen Bamboo green, the proper colour that the Sausss Ente version was painted in, unless you bought a red one, but the green looks a lot better, to me anyway ...

As with most builds, I started with the body, although at this point the paint hadn't arrived, so I just got it ready for primer, after checking it for mold lines and anything else that needed sorted, I was pleased to find just two very faint mold lines, both on the front wings, a few minutes with a medium sanding stick and those were history.

Luckily the bonnet fits so much better than the Tamiya version, which I built a few years ago

The cooling fan cover is molded in two parts, the cover actually comes on the clear sprue, but the bars need to be painted the same colour as the housing, so once it was fitted, the parts that needed to be kept clear were masked up, a decal goes over it to give it that mesh look to it.

Gearbox and drive shafts dry fitted, they were a little tight, and will be a little worse once they've been airbrushed, so I took a file to them and cleaned them up a little

Inner wings dry fitted, as there is a diagram in the instructions, telling you to modify them slightly, wondering why, I dry fitted them, along with the steering and suspension, without the modification, full steering lock won't be possible, but as I'm going to displaying mine with the wheels in the straight ahead position, and not playing with it, I left them as they were

As with all German registered cars, head restraints are a legal requirement, so before the seats backs are fitted, two flashed over holes need to be drilled out

Unlike the Tamiya version, this one has some very nice separate seat frames, they are only dry fitted here, and will be airbrushed gloss black, the seats themselves need to be a tan colour

There's four very light injector pin marks on the inside of the bonnet that need to be taken care of

A medium sanding pad soon had them removed, before the hinge was fixed into place

Once the seat backs had been fitted, there was a fine gap around them that needed to be filled

Once the filler had dried, they were sanded smooth

Seats and head restraints dry fitted

Front & rear suspension fitted to the chassis, like the real 2CV, there really isn't a lot of work to it

That's everything ready for a coat of primer, before the parts then get sorted into the colours they need to be airbrushed in

Spent some time yesterday getting all the parts in grey primer, they will get sorted into groups of the colours they need to be airbrushed,

And this morning I got back in the hobby room to airbrush the body & body parts in Citroen Bamboo green, and the wheels and bumpers in Citroen Rose grey

Excellent work! And a lot of kit detail (I have bad memories of Revell kits in my past experiences). Looking forward to seeing this develop.

The later kits from Revell are very good, I've built quite a few if theirs lately, all went together without any problems

Looking great. Are the rear seat belts separate parts or molded to the seats?

There molded into the seat, would have been nice and easier if they were separate ....

Now that the Chrysler's been finished, it's time to get back to this one before I run out of time to get into the hobby room, trim was done with aluminium bmf, front & rear light surrounds were done with a mix of dark grey and black, body was fixed onto the chassis with 5 minute epoxy
