PostSubject: #57 Heinz Pontiac Grand Prix   Wed 15 Feb 2017, 9:11 pm

Hi everyone - Its been a while since I have been around, but I have still been working on several kits and completing a few here and there.  Here is one I just finished up last month.  This is a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix in the famous Heinz Ketchup markings that was built from a Monogram Kit.  A pretty basic NASCAR build - the body was already molded in red plastic so all that was needed was to paint the chassis and underside of the body with gray and then clear coat the body, apply the decals and a shot of gold on the wheels. It looks good in my collection of NASCAR Grand Prix's. I hope you like.

Good looking Pontiac. I've often been temped to try a clear coat over coloured plastic, my last attempt at that was in the mid 1980s.
It's worked well for you.

Ha! I've got the kit and tho no longer build, I was tempted enuf to download web fotos of the real car. Lovely work! I wonder if, instead of risking clearcoat, a fine sanding followed by a sure fire nice wax would be easier. Thanx!

Thanks harron - I have actually tried both methods; however, in this case, Tamiya Clear Gloss was the fastest & easiest way to go :)

Nice build Greg...these are not the easiest kits to decal when it comes to the Nascar kits. Nice work.
