PostSubject: It'll be my 50th B-day...   Sat 07 Jan 2017, 9:20 pm

.....this year, mid summer.

I have always love the big cruiser/family cars from the late 60's thru to the late 70's. I have casually been looking casually for the past 5yrs, nothing struck my fancy. Either the colour combo was not my taste, too much not working, too many miles, too much missing, too much rust, etc, etc. I really just wanted a turn key jump in and enjoy.

Well, this past fall a huge two door white monster drives past in the other direction. I think to myself, "that would be fun to drive", it was massive. Turns out my sister in laws new man just happens to have what turns out to be what that car was for sale. All original, second owner, 30k original miles, everything works, has a 460cid FE big block , it's a 1979 Ford Lincoln Mark V for sale for a song. It's been in a heated carnage for the past 10years. This thing is pretty much mint.

These things are HUGE.
20ft long,309"
The hood alone is 7'. From where you sit in the drivers seat your close to 9'-10' to the end of the hood
It's 6 1/2' wide

So I am buying it myself for my 50th birthday.

The actual car

Buy it Curt if it's that nice!

Triple black would be killer on this.

What's the insurance like on 7.5 litres over there, I assume it will be cheap with a classic car policy?

Thanks Mark, it's  mine as long as I want it. I have to see it in person to check it out throughly for hidden stuff that my sister in-laws man might have missed when he bought it. He's a super honest OCD picky guy so I have to think it is what he says it is.

Shay, insurance will be cheap, it will be a casual driver, less then a 1000k/yr. To bad we all live so far apart, would be fun to go for a cruise together.

I like your way of thinking, right along my thought too. The interior is crushed blue velour, oh well.

Going to black out the dash and chrome with faux carbon wrap. Will be making the exterior into two tone white/black by wrapping it with a faux carbon wrap panel effect along the sides and the hood/trunk. Not a fan of the all white.

We'll also be putting a trailer hitch on it to hold a bike rack. Should be lots of fun showing up at rides and festivals with a couple quality MTB bikes hanging off the back worth more then the car, lol.

I have been driving Karen nuts talking about it.

Lol guys, I won't pimp it out, I promise.

The trunks is HUGE Paul, we'll got that rout first for sure.

Sam, I did buy a book on how to build a low rider. What an antiquated out of date system. I can only assume the hobby is working on bring the system upto date with electronics and better technology.

I'd love to build one, but not based on anything I read.

You just have to sit in one position, and not move.

The bullet arrives after about 20 minutes Curt, you might get a black eye at worst

I might even apologise, just so long as you eventually have it done in triple black.

The new generation bullets only take 10 minutes now according to advanced computer simulations!

Triple black would be classic on that car...its long enough to be a limo...LOL... If it were me and you could id put collector insurance on it for value...that way if anything happens to it you get the value of it or get her fixed. My brother has that kind of insurance on his T-bucket hot rod...its cheap too.

Mark, I will be looking into all option of insurance.

Gary, thanks man.

Here are a couple interior pics my sister in-law took for me this past weekend. Looks like the door jams and doors need a real good cleaning.

I am hopeing so Gary. I may be heading up this winter to give it a look over. It's a bit of a drive, 3hrs north west of where I live, and in a snow belt area. I'd rather wait til spring without the snow factor to worry about.

A living room on wheels! All you need is the right hat, either a captain's cap or a "Superfly" one!

Yup it'll have to wait til spring. Hmmm triple blue, that might be an option, there was an option of blue side panels.

Harron, I'm thinking it could be the centre point to a cool Halloween costume. A "SuperFly" hat/outfit and a couple "working girls" could be a fun night cruising around with another couple.
Yup, living room on wheels, lol.

Id love to have one...had one as a kid. It can only be built the custom version but id still like to have another one sometime and relive some of my childhood days. There are many kits I could do just that with if i could get a hold of them.
