Welly diecast Packard Caribbean. No WIP pics, as it wasn't that big a job. All the interior needed was some BMF and a lick of Dulcote.

The engine got a parts box rocker cover and air cleaner. I had do something, the flathead straight eight looked terrible. Dunno what Packard were thinking, a flat head in a prestige car in until 1954? Enough second guessing their
management.

Parts bin wheel and tyres. Repainted in a light metallic green, with some BMF added. Here's the before pic:

Nice work. I've always wanted to redo a diecast - just for fun.

Mike, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. There's cars we don't get in kit form, and with a metal body, you can use any paint you like.
Yes, you're going to lose a lot of detail, especially in the cheaper 1/24-25scales,but they make a great shelf filler.

Nice touches, paint looks glass smooth, nice colour too. The wheels work well.

Super work on improving the die-cast. I've held them in little respect since they come "pre-made" and lack detail in undercarriage and engine area. That confessed, they are vital in filling in the sad lack of kits in so many years and makes. Somebody should do a tutorial on getting a die cast, stripping parts and paint and rebuilding it with better addition of parts and paint.
Your work here shows how even a few things can make a so-so die-cast into a special personalized creation worthy of praise. Thanx for the Packard, whose history is one of sad decline from luxury to obscurity. The Depression(mostly), WWII war production and afterward too much conservatism doomed the brand, R.I.P.!
