Hi all I started this kit ages ago but it got shelved (can't remember why) but I had an idea to re motivate me , it's going to become a 60s version of the bat boat, I have the Airfix jet engine which I will be adding, with some lasers and other bits, I guarantee this will be like no corvette you ever saw.

Hi all well here is a quick mockup of where this is going. The jet engine is very disappointing detail wise I will be adding lots more detail and since this will be sprayed gloss black I will be cutting inspection doors in the outer casing to show the detail I will be adding

Hi all done a bit more.

As you can see there's no real detail to the jet engine, I know it's meant to be an educational toys to teach kids how a jet engine works and to be see through but I fail to see how this teaches anything, no injectors no pipe work for fuel just some blades which spin and some lights, I think Airfix missed a trick here. And for very little work on their part.
I know nothing about jet engines but I know they need injectors to get the fuel where needed and fuel obviously but here is no indication of either here.

Hi all some more progress on this.

I've concocted a couple of laser cannons for it, I think they look quite convincing, what do you think.

Love the idea! And that's going to be one big Batboat indeed. The 'laser cannon' look properly 1960's SF and the huge turbine engine is going to really make it an eye catcher

Hi all here is the next installment

I must say I'm enjoying this very much, freedom from anyone saying "that's wrong" is so liberating and I'm loving the fact I can use my imagination to find stuff for making 60s style futuristic stuff ( I thought at the start of this build that the corvette lent itself to that era, modern stuff would be either squarer or more streamlined)

Excellent work! Some really 'oddball' combinations going on and I love the detailing of the jet engine

Hi all, did some more detailing on the jet engine (yes I know all you jet engine enthusiasts out there it looks like no jet engine you ever saw) it's not real and doesn't exist in real life, I love this imaginary stuff, I can do anything.

Hi all well I've finished detailing the jet engine, I was going to make an inspection panel in the casing so you could see the detailing but since it is curved in all directions I couldn't work out how to hinge it so you won't actually see any of it but, hey I know it's there.

Great stuff! The extra detailing is like a cross between 1950's 'World Of The Future' stuff and (dare I say it) Steampunk aesthetics. As for buried detail, even if you can only catch the barest glimpse of it that much will add a lot of depth to the build

Hi all well thanks to a suggestion I'm going to do lift out panels instead of hinged so here's what I have so far.

Wow, I've missed a lot on this build. The 'hydrofoil' looking wings at the bow are fabulous. The red trim is perfect, very much in keeping with the '60's Batmobile aesthetic. Batman looks kind of like he's drunk, lol. And the use of the lightbulb is, excuse the pun, brilliant. I'm assuming it's going to be a one or two man mini-sub of some sort.
