With the repainted roadster passing gas again, I turn to my newly restocked salvage yard. Of the really cool stuff, this combo got my eye. I'll see where I get with this.

Managed to get the major stuff apart with minimal damage.

The engine is in serious need of fixing up.

I enjoy searching out, and matching up compatible parts during a salvage bashup !

Ha! You never seem to run out of "parts box" stuff. We'll be watching this looking over your shoulder.

I am a pack rat when it comes to saving parts I think I may be able to use sometime.
I was recently blessed with some 'used' models, so I have a quite a few to base some more builds on.

Me to Clay....I save everything left over and anything to possibly make another project from. One never knows if they might need a part or someone else they might be able to help out with them. A few years back we were in serious funds issues and I was bored so I took a couple of hand fulls of parts and seen what I could make from them...LOL.. Will be watching yours...

I needed to cut the new wheel wells so I could use it to locate other stuff. First, I reinforced the inner edge of the cockpit. Figured it might get a tad weak there.

The front end was a challenge to figure out. The frame is boxed out square at the front. I have no idea what the original front end was. If you look at the lead foto. there looks like radius rods running flat across the frame sides ?  there are mounting holes for that to be on that way !
My first thought was to build a spring perch for a suicide front end, But didn't think that would look very cool. Rummaging thru a pile of salvaged front end stuff, I came across this transverse spring arrangement. (Maybe that ain't what transverse is ???) It was almost the  exact same width as the frame. So, with a little modification, I fitted it. Looks like i'll end up with a pretty short wheel base, but  I guess that'll not be too bad. A lot of alterds seem that short !

Thanks, Chris.
Sometimes parts just seem to present themselves to me and I go for it.

I don't know what these frame extensions at the rear are, But I scratched a replacement for the left one that was missing, anyway.

Nice work Clay ... it looks to be where a Funny Car body would attach to the frame.

Looking good Clay. If I'm not mistaken that looks like a Polar Lites funny car chassis, just guessing do to the with of the cassis rails. I think The part you recreated is where the rear axle is meant to attach.

Those are like a 4-link bar. Adjustable so you can load the chassis. Looking good Clay.

OK, Thanks, Buck ! If it weren't for the location holes, I would have written this off as a gluebombers mistake. Guess I'll put them back on/

Max, That's not where the rest of the parts (engine, frame, and axle mounting slots) indicate for the rear location. If this was indeed, a funny car chassis, that bracket and holes might be for a body mounting pivot point ??

That's extremely possible Clay, Like I said I'm guessing. I have had a couple of Polar lites kits in the past and that frame looked familiar to me. I looked around for an image that would help on the interweb but didn't find anything real helpful. I know the Revel kits have a much higher pivot point for the body. it looks to be the more sensible purpose for that bracketry though.
