 More easy springs....

I did this for a suspension spring. I used a #10-24 screw for this and some craft bead wire. It has no spring-back so it stays wrapped around the screw.

And doesn't it look perfect, spacing between coils is even just right! Inexpensive, easy to do, I think you have it nailed, or "bolted."
