That thing must be huge given it's a 1/16 scale.

Hi all done the seats now, I quite like the used leather look, I've tried not to go too far, I want it to look cared for.

It's 13 inches long mate, if it was 1/8 it would make the Traction Avant look like a mini.

I agree on keeping the interior looking nearly as good as the body. Somebody at one of the model sites had a good technique for giving a "cracked leather" look I always wanted to try.
Your progress is moving along. It makes no sense they didn't include the little lower rails. The Monogram Rolls in 1/24 had (I believe) the rails molded on. Excellent of you to think of them!

The seats turned out excellent! I also agree with the choice to keep things well maintained, it just fits with the idea of the kind of car you're building.

Hi all I was asked by a few people how I did the leather so incase anyone is interested here's how I did it.

First I primed it

Then a very watered down coat of yellow ocher (I only used vallejo as I didn't have any yellow ocher in enamel, but enamel should work too)

Once that's dry a very thin coat of humbroll 62

Then a normal coat of humbroll 63 then whilst it's still wet, scrunch up some clingfilm film and dab it on the paint till you get the desired effect.

Then a coat of satin varnish

If I wanted to take it further I could scratch the paint then rub some buff coloured pastel into the scratch, brush it off then varnish it again.

I could go on and pluck holes in it put oil stains and all sorts

It's dead easy .

Oh well I've got another problem, we're baby sitting our daughters puppy (I can't be angry he's such a sweetie) being as how I've not had a dog for 20 odd years and my missus not  had one for even longer, we're a bit out of practise, the dog is tiny it's a sausage dog he's 16 inches long so imagine my surprise that he can get parts off a 30 inch high table. The fuel cap is missing a few other bits are chewed (not too bad they can't be fixed) ( some of the ship parts I don't want to think about (gulp the Soliel may end up shelved) I made a concerted effort to stick to just this build to try and get my confidence back and although I can't get a good gold effect on it so far, I'm pleased with how it's going, I may end up just spraying the gold with gold paint or doing it high gloss black, it's funny I would be so cross if a human had damaged these kits but I melt when I look at frankie, I do love dogs, I look at this tiny animal and I just can't understand how some people can hurt innocent little creatures, I look at him and my heart melts

Pets give love (well maybe not reptiles) and never criticize. Except for vet bills and chewing some things it's all positive support for humans.

Thanx for the tutorial on worn leather look. It's my guess Vallejo is maybe slower drying, which makes daubing and other distressing not so rushed. I've heard some even use artist paints in tubes since there are so many color choices.

Too bad about the 'pet issues' but I know what you mean about the situation (I'm owned by a cat, myself).

The work is coming along great! That dash is stunning and the engine compartment is fantastic!

Hi! all, well not to change the habit of a lifetime here is the progress on another ruined kit. I tried to use gold leaf but could not get enough shine on it, so I then tried alclad, which turned out rubbish, I've now tried ak real gold, the results are the best so far but still totally rubbish.

It must be frustrating not getting the shine on it but that is one awesome color combo.

Hi all here is quite a big update, I'm starting to not mind the non metallic looking gold, I think it goes quite well with the green.

Clear it with poly, that will bring up the shine. Some good progress going on here.
