This is another build I am carrying over from a now defunct site. A reissue of a kit from the late 50's, it bears all the earmarks of a kit from that era: flash, seams, and poor fit. Still, compared to the current offerings, the interior detail is superior to some newer kits.
Box art and sprues:

Torpedo room and sail

After major filling and sanding, the exterior is ready for primer.

Thanks everyone.

Now on to painting the hull. Maybe the easiest part of the build. I used 1mm masking to start. It conformed easily to the curves and I used a single piece from port to starboard tail plane. Next will be the anti-fouling for the lower portion of the hull.

Hull exterior finished.

Now, the next step in constructing the interior. This module will consist of three levels when completed. For now a mock up of lower level berthing, and the galley. Lots of clean up as there are noticeable ejector pin marks on even the smallest parts.

Glad to see this build made it over! The hull looks fantastic and I remember the forward torpedo room looking great. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the interior

Cheers gents. Many small pieces later and this module is done. Two down, a few more to go. Lower level berthing and the galley will be obscured for the most part after these levels have been attached to the control room. Next I will have to detail the interior hull before placing this module inside the hull.

The interior detailing is great! And even if the lower berthing is obscured parts of it will show through and add an incredible depth to the build. Looking forward to seeing more!

First Submarine Model I have seen built. I find it very interesting. Much more detail than I thought there would be. Good workmanship on it.

I remember building one of these in the '60s when I was about 10, using a giant squashed paint brush. I didn't even let the paint dry before changing colors. Looked like a nuclear meltdown! This is great Cole.

Thanks everyone. The conn, galley, and lower level berthing are now installed. Time to begin on "Sherwood Forest". A test fitting shows some very noticeable warping in the center deck.

Wow, you've really made something from this old dog. I built it in the early 90s, and had all the issues you mention.

Thanks gents. Sherwood Forest and the turtle back are now complete. I managed to straighten out some, but not all of the warping in the decks. Oh well, that's what happens when you exceed test depth. Next up is where I used to stand watch; the reactor room and engineering spaces.
