Well, things have been coming unglued here and there on the fuselage, lately.  I guess those little pins and holes on real models have me spoiled.  LOL

So I continue, anyway.  This one's just for fun.  We'll see how it turns out, but no worries. Might even try my hand at wire wheels.

Got the last of the decals on - no problems.  The tail section is on. Cowling and engine are in.

Added some step rungs from fine wire.

Added the pushrod tubes to the motor.

On the inside, even though most of it will be covered by the wing, I scratched a pilot's seat and a jump seat for the navigator/gunner, a windscreen, and two pieces of paper with detail penciled and painted on - just for fun.  Looks better from far away.

It helps when you're having fun.

Mike

Very cool indeed! The model is a real struggle, worth the effort now that it's nearing completion. You will have one of the few built. I'd say bravo!

Moving along nicely Mike, keep at it man you're almost there. The decals look like they went down without issue.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement, guys.  It keeps you going.

The vacuform project is now done.

I tried something else new on this build also.  I got some wire wheel PE from Eduard and gave it a good try in the suggested manner, but that didn't pan out.  All the PE wires I've seen say to 'simply' take your existing wheel pieces and cut them in half, remove the wheel centers and sandwich the wire wheel between the remaining tire halves.  Try it yourself sometime.  Getting it down the middle is tough and the thickness of an XActo saw blade is almost 20% the thickness of the tire anyway.  I even tried rubber O-rings that cut easier, but still not straight.  So I tried just gluing them onto the outside and I think it looks OK.  This was a just for fun build anyway.

The Eduard PE comes in pairs of wheels in incremented sizes.

I used the old wheel center and a piece of the XActo knife to put a slight 'dish' in the wheel.  Too much and it buckles the outer ring.

This is how it looks glued to the O-ring with PVA glue.

Getting the wing glued on was a little frustrating.  Luckily I was using PVA to put it on and after the first mistake, I was able to rub off the mess and try it again.  I set the wing upside down and used balsa strips to support the fuselage in position.  The rigging helps stabilize the whole assembly.

Voila!  It's done. Also added a leftover Lewis MG from the Felixstowe.

Enough with the vacuform kits.  Maybe a resin kit next.

Thanks for hanging in there.
Mike

Nice! You've packed a load of detail in there, especially given the scale. The wheels look great and the rigging is spot on. Excellent build, even more so given it is a vac form kit
