Does it say "Candy Indigo Enamel" on that Alclad bottle?
It sure does Denis.

Denis, Nigel's building an armoured monster truck, those are 1" thick armour berilium panels, and the paint is radar absorbing, the Candy Indigo Enamel on he jar is just it's code name.

The wood grain is something I learned in a French polishing and wood repair course over thirty years ago ... I've repaired and restored some old furniture in my time with success.

It's all done with brushes this time with acrylic paints..... old knackered bushes I may add, new trim ones are too precise.

I did a simple tutorial here
http://skidsplace.forumotion.co/t2099-simple-wood-grain-effect

Can do a more in depth one I suppose.

Thanks for the info Colin. I haven't had a chance yet to check it out, but you can trust I will.

How are you going to make the bubble glass Nige?

I'm not liking the sticky out wheels but you sure did a nice job on the conversion Colin. Just a shame VW never offered a pick up Beetle.

Easy,it comes with the van kit.

Got the bugger done,I swear if the Titanic had been built from this plastic - (very much like the old Monogrm plastic ) then not only would the iceberg have taken a smackeroobie but the ship would still be sailing the oceans.....Not going to do the other side - enough is enough..

That plastic looks absurdly thick! It would be better to go at that with a hole saw instead of a compass, I don't blame you for not wanting to do the other side.

Colin - I love what you did with the bug and great colour for it too!

Nigel - That's crazy thick! I think just on one side will look cool. Keep it coming!

Are you splashing it with decals?? ... if so then the colour will do in my opinion.

If you're having it plain then it might look a bit fuller if you give it another coat or two.

Either way it's a nice clean base to work on mate

I might split the diff, give it more candy blue and decal it.

Had a rummage around for colours/tints for the windows..

Settled on armoured glass for the f,r & side windows and a burnt metal for the sunroof - it is more like a gold..

Got the van floor done flat black..

Then got more blue on the shell, more needed...................

That is when it all turned into shit!...Needing more blue decided to change the colour...Knew full well that the candy was an enamel so gave it a sealer coat - or so I thought and then gave it some Ford olympic blue,it reacted...

So plan 'b' and will use the pickup shell in camel yellow, more tomorrow.
