The effect is fantastic - derived from an accident or not. The development of this paint job experiment has been wonderful to follow. The multiple layering of different techniques has resulted in a truly 'developed' appearance, with the kind of depth one normally doesn't see in auto body work. Excellent!

This scene?

Yup Nigel pretty much.

So here's a little update. I painted the scoop/carbs/tunnel ram with colour changing paint then cleared it with holographic. I will be clearing the entire shell with the holographic paint.
Not the best pic as the sun is rather low.

One step closer to getting this done.
Spaz Stix Chorem with Tamiya Green Clear.

Great work Curt.

The DVLA over here would have a pink fit trying to put all those colours on the V5C document!! vLOL

Lol, true. I wonder how those colour change colours get tagged on the owner ship.

A mock up.

I have been struggling for the past few weeks on what to do on the trunk lid. I wanted something that would challenge me but not something that I would get frustrated with and get in over my head. My ab mural skills are limited with this tiny canvas, approximately 4cmx5.5cm or 1.5"x2".

Tonight I finally hit on what I will be doing. As you can see from the pic I have made some stencils.

I am going to attempt a steampunk mural.

Another small update.
Roughed in the base paint and a rough sketch of what I will be doing. You can see the steampunk rough up in the bottom right corner. The others were just concepts.

The last pic is some free handing I was trying with the AB. What do you guys see in it? I am curious to hear.

Thanks for looking in guys.

Man is free hand ever tough.
I am going to continue to learn and progress with this spectrum. I know it will be a very long learning curve, but with the use of stencils and a ton of patients things can only get better.

It is a very very rough rendition of a face and hands pushing up through fabric.
Thanks for the feed back guys.

Yeah, working that small  painting graphics with an AB can get exasperating. I usually end up adding  a lot of brush work. But it sure is fun !!

Clay, did you also paint the face or only the flames, the flames are convincing. Yes I agree painting this small is a real challenge.

Nigel, lol, she's the woman who does the voice of Lisa Simpson.

It's all paint. The face is where the brush work came into play.

Some fantastic ideas percolating there! Of course I'm biased about Steampunk stuff, lol, but everything on this project is just so wonderful I'd be hard pressed to figure out which part I like the best.

As a long time brush painter I would say that the combo approach you are thinking about is the best way. The vast majority of the AB work I've seen incorporates some brush work into it for fine details and sharpness of images - otherwise you'd wind up cutting a million little stencils. Even H.R. Giger, a grand master of the AB, would use regular brushes from time to time for detailing and accents.

Looking forward to seeing more of this wonderful 'thought exercise.'

Thanks ever so much Kats for the props and support dude.

Well this is not what I was planning but honestly didn't want to take the time to cut out all what I had planned to do. So in the spirit of keeping this going I did this. The boarder will be treated twith something.

It has a few dust coats of colour change. Next step, poly clear the entire she'll.
