Man I have soooo much to workout and learn when it comes to final detail installing and planning. Although I am happy with how the detail work turned out in the engine bay I am disappointed how the camera pics up every little mistake.

Oh well, I WILL figure out what I need to do in the future.

All in all I am very happy with this, given all the issues I had with the paint.

I didn't want to post up that last picture up, as I am not happy with all the flaws. I reconsidered and said damn it this is a learning process. You guys desreve to see the good the bad and the ugly.

I will gladly listen to any advise and constructive criticism on how to improve on any part of this build.

As I said,I have learned a ton and figured out a few things along the way. One being how to get crisper pinstripe lines.

And thanks once again for all the support along the way.

Whoa! Curt, girra hadden on y'sel kidda.

I think you did a bang up job on this one buddy, from the paint to the under bonnet details, it's all first rate.

The paint speaks for itself and I really like the brake master cylinders, the carbs linkage and the plumbing for the behive!!

What did you make the pipes and clamp out of?

I see you gave the radiator a 'wash' in the end!! LOL.

I'm fairly sharp and I see maybe a pinstripe not quite perfect. That said, the rest is awesome. Only thing I'd do on it, is maybe paint the battery filler caps. The engine area is the best I've seen on the Merc. Wheels are both unusual and outstanding. Every model seems to have weak points to the builder, who struggled with it and has dreams of better work. To viewers, we don't see potential, shortcomings. We see what is there. And it's very good work. Period.

We spend enough time looking at our builds as we go that we know every single thing we would like better no matter how tiny a flaw. You have to let that go and appreciate what you've done right! In this case that's a hell of a lot! That's a gorgeous car you got there.

That is one tasty looking build...... End of story, full stop, period, finito !!!!

The paint job really compliments the shape of the car in my opinion, all the other little extra bits of detail just make the overall quality of the build standout further.

Enjoyed following the wip immensely, picked up a few ideas from it too that I'll steal lol

Top job Curt....

Thanks very much fella's.

I appreciate the kind words of support and praise.

I am proud of this build and myself for sticking with it. Sorry if my choice of words seemed self defeating, they were not meant too be.

harron, battery taken care of, lol.  I'd originally done them in green, then yellow, and had settled on black, now they are orange. Thanks for the honesty,  we all learn something new from each build.

Colin, feel free to use what you like, we all grow and learn from each other. Happy to hear I may have inspired someone else's creativity.

Denis, I agree whole heartedly, and truly appreciate what you are saying. I am honest with myself and I am not blind to any faults. I never dwell on negative self pity, I always figure out how to over come any short comings or difficulties.

Shay, I think so too, thanks.

Al, cheers. I used .020" Chrome wire for the oil cooler lines, and for the clamps I use PE frets. I had originally had started to install PE screw heads on them. After the first test fit I realized I had grabbed a size smaller wire, the clamps did not fit/sit properly. It took me 30min just to do one clamp with the screw heads. So by the time I had made new clamps I decided not to bother with the screw heads.

Here's how I made the clamps.

The rad had to at least have a wash.

To make the clamps I would just push down has hard as I could with the cutters as you see them I the picture. Then I would give them a slight pinch to add some more shape. I was originally doing it on the mat as in the pic. I switched to a hard surface which gave much better results.

I think the build is out standing. A real head turner. Front row stuff you got going here.

There's nothing flawed with this build. I especially love the orange and looking at the engine bay is a joy to behold.

Thanks Mr H, much appreciated.

I have to admit, now that I have settled onto another build I don't "see" as many flaws as I first did.

Curt: I haven't been able to see the "flaws" you were worried about in the engine compartment. The only thing I would have done differently would be to paint the radiator flat black. Overall this is an outstanding build.

Thanks a lot John. Next time I will do the brackets differently and roll them all the way around the tube.

As many have mentioned we all see our own work in a different light. I will most likely enter this in least one model contest.
Hey, if they have that one next year that you went to this year when we tried to meet up when I was in Sedona maybe I will bring it down. That would be fun.

I have to say we are all our own worst critic, but if you think this build is bad I'm going to stop posting my stuff!! Haha!
I'm with the other guys, in my opinion this an outstanding, creative build. The paint work stands on its own, and the engine bay is very well done!

Great job!

Thank you very much Max for the generous words of praise. cheers Max.

I am very happy with how it turned out and very proud of the results. I totally agree, you are correct we are always hard on our own stuff. On the other hand this is how we grow, if we never notice and acknowledge our own short comings how would we ever progress.

A blind man does not know what he looks upon is correct or incorrect, to not notice our own mistakes and want to correct them is an injustice to him. Just saying.

Thanks webby.
I am not disappointed, just stating the facts. Every build has it's flaws, I love how it turned out, I just like to keep it real and strive for better is all.
