I started this back in the middle of December but didn't get around to posting any photos. It's the Trumpeter 1/700 scale model of the British battleship HMS Valiant. Prince Phillip served on this ship in the war.

Don't think I've ever seen you build a ship.

wish i could get these little ships to look like you get them .... i still have a half finished Ark Royal that i'm not over happy with.

You seem to have the ability of getting them to look like they're double or triple the size ... there's got to be a knack to it and you should share it .... especially with the likes of me, a mere mortal :)

Thanks everyone.

Colin, I think colour contrast looks good on small ships. I use a very fine paint brush to paint in the small details on the decks. I also use weathering oils when all the major painting is done. The final stage is when it gets sprayed with a coat of matt clear.

Been a bit pre-occupied with a host of stuff just lately Chris so apologies for not commenting earlier.

This looks like your usual high standard and I'm always amazed at how you paint such fine and small details!

Thanks for all your replies guys.  I know most of you have more to do with model cars so your words are appreciated. The Valiant is completed and the pics can be seen in the completed ships section.

Paul, this is what I used for the decks -

Colin, only too happy to share what I might know! I am not an expert, just someone who has had fun with these things since I was 10. My next build will be the battleship Bismarck. I will give a much more detailed description on how I will put it together.
