March first is approaching fast, so here is the CB build thread all ready for you. Any type of motorcycle goes, start it before the end of April, and don't worry about a finish date 'cause there is none. I can hardly wait to see what everyone has in store.

This is the kit I will be starting.....can't say I will get it finished in two months, but I'll give it a go.

I'm going to use this group build to get back in the swing of things and hopefully restore my lost mojo.

Going to do this as a civilian motorcycle combo ... will be wiring, cabling and plumbing it as well ... have modeling glasses and bino-microscope ready for the task.

Thanks to my good friend Andy for the kit.

I will be following this one.

If I can get my hands on a reasonably priced Tamiya Yamaha YZ250 kit I will be joining this CB.
That is the bike I had when I got engaged to my wife and sold to help pay for the ring...

*** Goes off to look for a bargain on the kit...

For my very first motorcycle build, I've decided to keep the project small. Picked it up at a yard sale years ago - so cheap I couldn't turn away.

Aoshima 1/12th scale Kawasaki KZ1000P Police bike.......to be precise a bike of the Los Angeles Police Department California Highway Patrol

for a bit of history Kawasaki made variants of this bike from 1977 til 2005

the early one had just a glass screen (any one remember 'Jon and Ponch in CHiPs on tv in late 70s/early 80s?).....this is the later post 1982 version with the fairing

ive never done an Aoshima bike kit before and im quite impressed/worried by the amount of parts.........the box really is chokka full of sprues!

and the real deal..........

Lots of great choices.

Al, I'll be following yours closely since I have one of those in the stash.

Mitch, hope you find one. I built that bike a couple of years ago.  It's a nice kit.

Opening up my kit, this is what you get.

well then, as i'm not doing the figures (or possibly adding any baggage) ... i'm left with one single sprue ....

It'll be pretty much a simple build but as said i'll be attempting all the wiring and plumbing along the way.

If this gets me back into "Mojo country" then i'll see about getting another kit for this or just crack on with one from my minuscule stash

Could be interesting.  The "Dream 50" looks like what used to be called café racers.  Looking forward to this one.

Wow...wiring a 1/35 kit will be interesting !

Engine block halves glued (CA) together.

The engine cyl fins are made up of stacked white metal

There's not much to this little Zundapp.  I probably won't be using the figures that are included.  Being my first motorcycle, I'm being careful in deciding what gets painted/assembled first so I don't shoot myself in the foot.

Some real neat kits in this build.
I'll have to see if I can find something that won't take too long. The Mazda 787 will be on the bench for awhile.

Good stuff Paul.

I will join in but unlike the Tamiya Porsche I painted for the last build and then did nothing else, I plan to actually finish this one, Im building it for someone at work so I have no choice :)

It comes with a clear cowl but he wants me to paint it

Nice vintage Tamiya bike, Ash !

I got the frame pieces assembled and mocked-up to check alignment.

Then I mounted the engine to check the alignment on the mounting holes

Some great looking bikes being built here guys.

Paul, that frame looks terrific. Was there much clean up involved?

There must be two versions of the Aoshima Honda Dream 50, as there are some alterative 'race' parts such as handle bar grips, brake and clutch levers, chain sprocket and chain drive cover on the engine. (wrong one in the photo but it's not glued in yet)

All of which is handy as I'm going to convert it to race spec anyway.

The road bikes all seem to have a gloss red frame whereas the race bikes all seem to be satin black, so black it was.

The twin cam single pot engine is a little gem and went together without nyt drama at all.

The instructions have you assembling the frame halves around the engine but for painting purposes, I assembled the frame first and with a little bit of jiggery pokery, the engine can be fitted afterwards.

Various cables added, a little bit of detail painting and a blackwash and this is where I am now,

Whew! I almost missed this one. I'll be joining with this base kit and applying a different livery. This will be my first time using Museum Collection decals. Also, I am thinking about using enamels on this one(red for the fairing and body). That would be another first for me.

Well these are the first bits of styrene i've welded together in over three months .... jolly satisfying too i may add.

Swan Morton No 26 blade for scale.

I've worked out i need to add (read scratch build) brake cables, handle bar reverse levers + all cabling, exhaust downpipes, carburetor inlet pipes and carbs, battery cables, sparkplug caps, ht leads  ..... thats so far ... there's maybe more that i can fit in.

Beautiful work, Al.

Yes, they are small, Snake.

Looks like a dynamite kit, Cole.

Have been at work painting some of the Zundapp.  Got the tires, fenders, frame and wheels done so far.

Looks like a hair got in the way here.

1:35 motorcycles are tiny, I know, I have one part completed!!! 058

Good luck with adding all that detail Colin, you will wear out your eyes and test you dexterity and patience I fear!

Looking good in civvie colours Mike..... you doing both of them?

Well, she is up on her wheels an some more cables added. I really have to say this is a superb little kit.

I need to get some thicker black wash on the rear springs and black out the wheel retaining screws.
