Nice work Bruce.  Cool looking hood.

Mitch, I'd love any detail shots you can send (via Messaging?).  Especially engine and chassis.

A little update here.  Body pieces primed and fitted.  Very little flash on most parts.

Engine seems tiny - like true 1/25th.

Rotors have big injection marks on them.  Have to see if they remain visible when assembled before I try any fixup.

Nice Webers.

Sorry guys, I'm bowing out even before I got started.

I tried to get a can of bright green at the only motor factor left in my market town but they didn't have anything near correct.

The best colour to use is Tamiya's Park Green but the nearest supplier is 40 miles away and I flatly refuse to pay over £10 to have one delivered by mail order, when I have two bottles of the stuff in my paint stash, if only I could use my AB!!!

So it's going back in the box!!!

Nice work all round guys.

Great job on that tear drop hood Bruce.

Mike that engine looks to have potential and those Webers look pretty darn good.

Well, I'm going to try again with this one:

It will be either blue or yellow, not sure yet but at least this time I have both colours on hand!! LOL It will also be the main focus race car in my race truck dio when I get to it.

Ash: Cheers for the link. I gave it a look and it appears that Shunko recreated some, but not all, of the Tamiya decals. It's definitely an option to consider.
Al: Glad you're back in, especially with the kit you will be building. I really love the racing cars from that era.

Cole: If you're just afraid they'll break apart, or have already cracked, try giving them a coat of Testors decal bonder. It provides a little security with older decals. Other makers probably provide it in their decal making kits.

The body on this is typical Old School Heller. Split down the middle with a fair amount of clean up required.

Ideally, this would get done before insertion of the engine and interior but this is not possible due to their size:

So it is going to have to be done aircraft style. i.e. front end/engine assembly and interior assembly, assembled and painted first, then inserted into one half of the body, closed up with the other half, then prepped, primed and painted afterwards!!!!

It's a great kit Ash, the decals are much easier than they look.

Not at all Curt.

You just need to start the build on or before February 29th 2016. No end date.

Ash: You mentioned you can't find the Peugeot 405 for a decent price. I found mine in an old tobacco shop in my town. The owner gave me a discount because of the box condition. He only charged me 1000 yen. It's nice to get a great deal now and again. So I've gone ahead and ordered the Shunko decals.
In the meantime, some progress on the engine, power train, and body.
