Beautiful seats, Cole.

As for me, I guess I'm out of this one for awhile.  My old demons of decaling have struck me again.  The nose decal is a one piece wraparound deal.  I used very warm water to apply it.  The clear areas showed the very milky white adhesive beneath.  The compound curvey wraparound didn't work quite well, though.  To fix it I tried for about 40 minutes applying Solvaset, working out the wrinkles, apply more Solvaset, work out more wrinkles, over and over.  But the wrinkles just kept moving elsewhere.

I finally threw in the towel.  The yellow wasn't as dense as I liked anyway.  I'll look for aftermarket decals somewhere.  In removing the decal with water and finger rubbing, the lacquer clearcoat started to come up also.  So, there's a lot to be done to fix this one.

The new year is certainly not starting off well for me.  Maybe back to the Felixstowe, now.

Sure sorry about the decal problem.  If the paint, lacquer should dry fast, but it doesn't hurt to wait extra time for it to dry completely.  There are some good vids on Y.T. on decaling. sometimes with wrap around decals it's best to cut into half pieces.  You're correct on the see-thru on light decals over dark surfaces too.

Man it's a real bummer when that happens Mike.

Never fear though, replacements are available although you will need to paint the stripe:

Not if he gets the CORRECT ones from Indy Cals....

http://www.indycals.net/decals/indy/63lotus29.html

They have an up grade kit too that has the correct nose cone, tires, thin wind screen and decals.

How on Earth did you find those Mitch? I looked all over Indycals site as I was sure they did them.

The upgrade kit looks good but isn't available at the moment.

May need to order those decals myself!!

Mike, decals aside what do you think of the rest of the kit?

Completed the interior and wired the electronics boxes.

I also added roll cage padding by using small bore silicone tubing and replicated cable ties with fishing line.

Mitch.... they are molded into the electronics boxes. I simply drilled them, glued in the wires and painted the connectors.

For me, painting rubber window surrounds is a daunting task. Recently, Tamiya brought out some new 'bendable' tape and I wondered how good it was. Time to find out I guess.

AL, Mitch: Already found the Indycals site and they're on their way, along with some new John Zink decals for a very old stalled WIP.

Al: Great looking interior work.

The MPC kit isn't your usual MPC quality, it's not bad. I like the fact that they provide pin attachment for the engine cowl and body top that allows display, but there's minimal detail underneath. The instructions leave a bit to be desired, though. What they label as front wheels are really the rears. Also, attachment points could be much clearer, so test fit everything.

Nice interior work Cole and Al.

Bummer about those decals Mike.  The Indycals should do the trick though.

Started (and finished) the decals tonite.

Mounted the body to the chassis

Got the front suspension on

Well that didn't work out too good. Despite clear coating first, I still got 'creep'. So it's taking a bath right now.!!

The decals are looking good Paul.

I have this kit too, so what were the decals like to work with?

Al, the decals are OK. They are work-able. I was going to ask about the new tape and how well it sealed, but you seem to have answered that question.

Don't write off that tape yet Paul.

I think much of it has to do with me. Since the flood, my heart and soul aren't in it as much as they used to be. Once we are able to move back in downstairs and I have my room and new bench set up, that will return.

I can certainly understand that Al.

Since there is a model show this Saturday, I did the finishing touches and will call this done. I will post more pics of the finished car when I get my camera.  These were taken with my smart phone.

Sorry to hear about the 'creep', Al. I assume it's on the window black.

Fine work on the Ferrari Paul. I never realized the rear spoilers were offset like that.

I was curious to see how twenty year old wet transfers worked. I will have to do a better job of trimming for the remaining transfers. Even so, I really like the Michelin logo for these tires.
