Isn't it amazing what you can "make do" with when you have to? Glad things are at least moving Bro.

Well there is absolutely nothing left downstairs now and the resto should be starting by the end of the month.

Consequently, we have been choosing furniture, sofas, carpets and curtains etc.

But you don't want to know about that boring stuff..... right?

OK then...... my Ikea glass cabinets were destroyed in the flood (MDF bases) and I fancied a change so went hunting on the web. Four hours later I still hadn't found anything I liked,............ then I spotted this:

It's actually a CD storage cabinet with glass shelves and doors but perfect for models. I calculate I can get 360 cars in the five units I have ordered with planes and larger models on the top.

I currently have about 160 completed cars/AFV so have plenty toom for more!!

Thanks all.

'Silence is golden' so the song goes and never truer than to-day.

The industrial size de-humidifiers and fans were removed to-day and the silence is palpable!!! YES!!

It's been almost five months since I last updated this thread!!!

All the reparations have been done, all the decorating too. All new furniture installed, all new carpets laid and all new curtains hung.

The kitchen has been fitted and the new AGA installed too. (just the granite work surface to go round the Aga and wall tiling to go on the Aga recess walls.)

The large walk in pantry (think large galley kitchen size) has all been fitted out with kitchen units, new washing machine, new boiler, new dishwasher and two new large upright freezers.

The full size shipping container, in which our remaining undamaged possessions were stored, has been emptied and the container removed from the courtyard. The various plant pots and borders in the courtyard still need to be replaced but it's a little late in the year for that, so it just needs tidying a little and I'll start it afresh again next year.

To-day, all the furniture we wanted restored, (dining table, piano, Justine's antique 'Captains' desk and a few other smaller items) were returned to us today. The guy who restored them has made a beautiful job and we are well pleased with them.

So once the dining table was in place, I spent an hour or so, unpacking all my completed models.

As I expected, there is some damage to repair but not a lot and nothing that isn't easily repairable. Now they need a good dusting, before being placed in my display cabinets!!!

Oh Joy Of Joys!!!! LOL

Still have a lot of sorting out to do, pictures etc to hang, almost a thousand books, plus hundreds of DVD's and CD's to organise and store away. But it will all get done in time!!

My hobby room is complete but not as yet organised but I should be back at the bench in about a week.

Thanks for your support over the last six months guys.

Great news Al! Think of not being able to plant the foliage you normally do as more bench time. You need to post pics of that desk and those chairs.

Congrats on making it to this point Al. I hope the bees find their way back.

The awfulness of going thru what you did makes what is "now" that much more appreciated. The model collection is a way of remembering past days. You have a rich heritage of memories!
