Thanks guys.

Buck, as you know I'm not keen on working parts so the steering box has been locked up!!

The chassis per se is finished, although there are a few parts to add later in the build. The chassis as it is now, will get a few coats of good old Uncle Henry Gloss black.

The two levers on the drivers side of the real car, are drilled out:

Whereas the kit levers are solid, so naturaly I had to drill them out. Not perfect and many lees than the real deal but much better than not drilled methinks.

For the most part the chassis went together well but there are one or two fit issues and some areas where it is best not to follow the instructions.

The front bulkhead on the real car is made from timber and the kit part reflects this in styrene. However, I thought I'd have a go at making one from balsa:

It needs a few coats of clear and when that is done it will get the screw heads using p/e:

The chassis has also been finished in Uncle Henry's favourite colour and will get a coat of clear in the next couple of days.

You're making it hard to resist buying this kit, Al.

Go on Paul, you know you want to, it must be just about the only model car kit you don't have!! LOL

I made the rest of the woodwork out of balsa too. The large piece in the middle is the floor and it's bowed because of the stain. It will sort itself out when it dries properly. Besides, for strength, I will be gluing it to the kit piece.

Thanks Gary and Mike.

The wheels are of a five piece design (four for the spokes/rim and one in the middle for the hub) and screw together with six screw bolts. Very little clean up was needed on the spokes.

Now it feels like I'm getting somewhere!! LOL.

There are some quite serious errors in the instructions, which if you follow them to the letter, have a quite marked effect on the finished model. Got them covered now though.

Thanks all.

Nine coats of clear and I have a nice satin sheen that I am happy with. The grain seems to have come out nicely too.
