That's a nice red for your truck. Looking good!

Had real life interfere with modeling for the last month or so.  Not too much progress on the pickup.  The more I looked at the truck the less I really liked the red paint job so it is being changed.  I have made some progress in the last couple of days.  Here is the first mock up of the truck as it is now.

There is still quite a way to go as I intend for this to be a show truck when finished. I have some tweaking still to to to the top chop as there are a couple of rough spots. Hopefully I will be able to work on this during the next week.

I got the new color on the truck today.

The paint is Scale Finishes gold base with a candy green top coat.  I'm much more happy with it than the red.  I also like the stance of the vehicle.  More as appropriate.

I like the green better than the red, good call John! I think you need to do something with the wheels to bring them out.

I think you're right about the wheels Denis. I'm thinking of highlighting them with transparent green on the centers. What do you think?

I think a dark Gray center would look good on the wheels also.

John I think it depends on the era you want to capture.  The transparent green is something I associate with from the 80s and early 90s when they would match the wheels to the body colour.  I'm with Buck on this and go dark gray, steel or burnt iron would make a nice contrast and the truck's colour is strong enough to stand on its own.

Denis, Buck: I think you guys are right. I'm going to do a couple of wheels in a dark gray and we'll see how they look.

STALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you ever have a model that just kept having things go wrong? That is the way this one has gone for me. At the beginning everything was cool, but as time has gone on things have gotten worse and worse. Nothing major, just one little thing after another. Today was the final straw when I managed to pick up some AC and mash a great big thumb print in the candy paint job. Rather than turn the kit into a Frisbee I decided to put it back in the box for a while and then go at it again. Don't know what the next project will be yet, but I will be starting another one in the near future. Hopefully something new will go better. I don't often do this, but this time it beats going crazy.

I think I may go over to the dark side for the next one, but am not sure yet.

I was enjoying that John, Ill look out for its resurrection. Far too much work gone into it to sling it!!. The panel work on the roof and the wooden pick up bed alone means it deserves another go.

Customs are one of the hardest builds ( At least for me anyway ) to do, so persaveer and keep trying. It's looking way too good to stop now.

A shame about the paint disaster. Is it something that could be fixed with the application of some subtle flames?

That's a shame John. I've had a few builds like that and sometimes trying to push through it just makes it even more frustrating. You'll know when the time is right to put it back on the bench.
