I think in small scale we need babies with tiny fingers who know how to use super glue.  You've cracked the small scale dilemma!!!!

Hi gang, I'm going to join on this one with a T-6 Reno Racer in 1/48th scale

parts trees

and a picture of the real plane

got some painting done on the cockpit and a little assy.

will get a couple close up's when I get this part together. Got the wings painted inside and together along with the tail feathers

This seams like a nice kit except for the color of the plastic. not much flash and so far it goes together good with out and issues

Great start, John. Large canopy will allow some nice interior detail.

They raced those bigger ones too?  I am surprised.  I'll be watching progress!

Did a little research on other modelers' experience with this paint scheme and found out there's little known about Lt. Wolf's plane other than it was a part of Jasta 5.  Printscale shows the camo scheme as Dk Green and Violet while Wingnuts shows Green and Mauve.  I painted the undercolor of the patterned area white with a silver area under the crest.

The Printscale decals are super thin tending to roll over themselves as you slide them off.  The pattern decal is very brittle and tends to break up, so I sprayed the rest of the sheet with Testors decal bonder.  The first section I did came out OK, but it gets hairy at the top and bottom where the opposing directions meet up.

Keep up the good work everyone.

WWI paint schemes going from camo to carnival make for interesting models and are an insight into history of the era.  Thanx for shining a light on a century ago!

There looks to be some nice fuselage sides detail in that one John. Looking forward to seeing how you detail it.

Mike, those lozenge decals look to have laid down nicely. Well done.

Working with the sprayed-over lozenge decals is much better (no pics yet).

Got under my magnifying glass again and decided to do the PE thing with the MG's.  Eduard provided a perfectly acceptable MG, if you didn't want to do surgery, but since it was there - why not? The main PE part rolled very easily around a piece of styrene rod.

By the looks of the enlarged photo, I need some painting and detailing here.

Nice work Mike.

I managed to apply all of the instrument decals for the cockpit. As tiny as these decals are, they all have a PE cover to be placed over them. The control stick looked very small when prepping and painting. But now that it's next to the pilots' seat...

Nice wood look on the instrument deck, Cole. Good job placing the miniscule decals.

A little more work done on the decals.  The red around the tail section had to be hand painted because it broke up on application.  I oversprayed the yellow pinstriping so that wouldn't happen.  They were a disappointment too, since neither went completely around the fuselage.

Hard to replicate that paint scheme.  Top marks for doing so well!  Fine addition to the collection!

Nice work Mike. Now I am really wondering how they put the patterns on the original.

The cockpit is finished. Due to the design of both plane and kit, it will be hidden under the fuselage.

Mike that's looking great, great decal work

Cole, your cockpit is super, great work

Got a little done on the T-6, fuselage together, wing and tail feathers are on

got some seams to fill and then maybe paint the red

don't know how much detail I'll be doing, trying to get the cockpit gauges trimmed in silver but not much luck so far. More up dates soon
