doing this for two different GBs elsewhere.....one is a classic kit from the 70s (and if possible you have to use a kit from the 70s!!!!).....the other is 'Rolls Royce Power'.......this qualifies for both

Airfix 1/72 BAC Canberra B(1) 6

According to Scalemates this was new tool in 1972 and this is a boxing from 1983

im hoping its all there as i was given this a long time ago, decals look ok

this might sound strange to you lot that build a lot of aircraft, but since i took up this lark again 10 years ago, this will be the largest plane kit ive done

It didn't excite me at all to see planes in small scale with few parts.  Until I got to see how spray painting and mild weathering can bring life to otherwise little models, I couldn't appreciate them.  Even bare metal jets could get the variety of metallic looks to make them real.  Good luck with this one,  looks like it could be something good!

It's a start. Seems like a big wing on the plane. All I know about planes is they fly so just wondering. Is it a more lift thing?

possibly......this was thought of in the same way as the DH Mosquito......fast and high and agile......set records for altitude back in the late 50s and was also the first jet to make a non stop atlantic crossing

the later ones were photo recon ....nasa have the last 3 remaining airworthy ones for high altitude research.

the grey came out a little too dark, miscalculation of my own fault but cant do much about it now

decals went on great...thought i would have some problems since they are around 25+ years old

next step is a matt coat all over then i can do final assembly

and finished.....

cant believe i added loads of weight in the nose, i even left out the crew since you couldnt see them and filled it with plasticine and .44 lead balls......and its still a tail sitter!!! lol.....must be well known for it since Airfix even include a jack to stick under the tail

thoroughly enjoyed doing this to be honest, im getting a liking for doing really old kits, nostalgia i guess

more pics in the finished thread

Sweet Canberra. I've worked on the 1:1 briefly- for about an hour!
