I cracked on and added the glow plugs:

... then the wiring:

When first done, it was a bit to uniform, so I wiggled it up a bit with a toothpick. Now I'm not so sure. Looks a little crude at the moment but I'm hoping it improves with paint.

I wasn't too happy with the way the plug wiring looked so I added a tiny drop of epoxy to the top of each plug, to give a sort of 'cap' look to them.

Probably not correct but I think they look much better now.

The 1:1 looks rough from what I saw when researching this .... yours look better .... like a proper mechanic has worked on it.

Now get on with the rest of that spaghetti lol

Wired the dizzy....

Think it looks good on the lump now it's in the chassis

Interior is basic but you wont see much anyway as the doors dont open, the tacky 1960s carpet is mixed railway scatter.

Gave the windscreen a bit of a muck wash, traced out the wiper sweeps with a bit of masking tape and used a fibreglass brush to dull down the plastic as a key to take a wash

The instrument decal is printed upside down .... typical ... again you cant even see it properly so it'll do

The wiper effect on the windshield is a nice touch.

The dizzy looks good Colin, just not sure about orange boots.

The seat looks even better now it's in position. Love the 70's baby pile carpet!! LOL.

The dash decal must be from an Aussie kit Coilin!!

Bugger when real life gets in the way eh

Looks like a truck now, and it'll fall together when you get time to sit at the bench.

Mike... the grey is just the primer. The Revell colour callout, calls for it to be a custom mix of
20% light grey, 40% yellowish green, 20% iron grey and 20% light blue.

So a greyee, bluey, greeny colour. LOL

I mixed up some paint for the engine based loosley on Revells colour callout. i.e. I guessed the proportions and then added a little metalic grey!!

I think the end result at least looks more or less correct for a period truck.

Loving that Diesel engine. You need a RAt Rod to stick that thing in so it can be shown off. Nice work Al.

Yep, that looks good Al ...

Had a few kit bonnet (hood) hinge holes to fill ... decided to do a half-a$$ job on them as i want it to look a bit untidy, gave the "filler" a bit of primer

The grill was suitably distressed and the headlight lenses were given a wash of copper on the insides, left to dry upright so it dribbled down a bit and hopefully it gives the impression of water staining with the bulb visible in the centre.

Decided to go for thinner white wall tyres instead of the alloys in the kit, they needed a little extention ... the disks still fit nicely over the extentions and i've drilled them ready to add brake pipes.

Loose fit of the body to the chassis and it's about how i want it

Looking good everybody!  I luv the semi's sleeper with added shelves, practical and more realistic.  The old rusty pickup I thought was maybe too much corrosion, but the body test fit foto shows it looks good.  The mono-color Bussing engine is a bit dull, and the real engine fotos seem to have some of the smaller bolt-on parts like starter motor in a more neutral flat grey or dull aluminum.  There's a many foto model of it as a 4X4 in WWII, with a sort of glossy sea green engine that seems especially odd.  Here's a link to that one: http://panzerserra.blogspot.com/2014/02/bussing-nag-l4500-4x4-and-l4500s-4x2.html.

Al; the engine looks really good.
Colin; I continue to be impressed with what you're doing.

Well, I finally got started on mine. A very simple kit, so I will have to make it stand out with a good paint job and the stickers, yes stickers, that were provided. The underside of the chassis, and a very rough fit of the main parts. Rather than a red on red with chrome, I am opting for a red dumper and black cab. I think it will provide some welcome contrast on this small truck.

Thanks all.

Harron.... thanks for your input, but all of the Bussing engines I see on the web (not many) are old, unrestored and may well have had replacement parts. With a lack of 'new from factory' or restored photos as refference, I believe the mono colour look would be more correct.

Colin, that is one beaten up truck. Maybe the hubcaps could do with a little rust?

Cole, I think your color choice is good. Will the wheels stay as is?

Apart from a 'grunge wash', which it will get before instalation, the engine is done. The brass pipe is a scratched extra part.

That engine looks like most of the 1:1 examples online mate (minus the gunk) .. i think you're right about there not being many pristine examples around ... looks like they renovated them and then sprayed them all over in that greeny grey colour.
