One tall truck!  Red for luck?  There's an independent owner/driver!  Thanx.

I like the way the inside of that tipper bed looks used. Nice touch!

The saying goes, 'Into every life. a little rain must fall'.

Well the cab certainly rained on my parade!!

In fairness it's probably my own fault as I deviated from the kit instructions which has you build the four sides and roof around the interior. Well me being me, I prefer body panels to be painted BEFORE assembly and so it was with this build. I was confident I could get the interior in after the cab was assembled.

With some modifications to the floor, which can't be seen once installed, it did go in BUT not without a lot of messing about with trial fitting. The result of which was the front kept breaking away on both side as you can see.

Oh well!! I'll do what I can with it, call it good and live with it.

Hi Cole,

That's a nice truck Sir, I have to ask though and I hope you don't mind, but do they actually have trucks like this on the roads in Japan, I have seen some people carriers that have all the body extras on, I actually thought about buying one before I bought my pajero...

Hi Al,

So sorry to hear about the problem Sir, to tell you they truth, if you hadn't of mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed it, could you not brush a little paint into the gap to hide it, either way, it is truly stunning, I really like the colour scheme...

That's the plan Stan.

Only trouble is, the paint I mixed for the blue is matt, so I'' probably have to brush some gloss too.

Cole: Cool looking little dumper. Much different over on that side of the other pond!

Al, Don't be so hard on yourself. It's looking great. You might mask the open seam by getting some black in the space for the door seams. It will look more natural.

Great work guys.

What scale is that Cole?

Al, I agree with Mike, use a Gundam marker and make the shut lines black and no one will be the wiser.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike and Mitch. However, I'd already gone with Andy's route.

Also, there isn't any panel line at the leading edge of the doors. The doors and the front simply butt join!! It's not a perfect solution and less than desirable but I'll live with it.

Finally the cab is mounted permanently and the wiring and plumbing hooked up. I had to make a control box thingy (I'm useless with auto electrics!!) for the wires from the alternator.

Next will be the front end tinwork.

Looks great with the engine in and body on!  Except for engine weathering, it looks factory fresh.  Thanx for taking us all on the trip!

Thanks Harron.

If I said earlier, 'Into each life a little rain must fall'.... then I've just had a downpour.

This is as far as I can get with the dropside decals.

This is what should go on:.....

..... but all the non-shadow decals broke up either in the water or on application. I've e-mailed ROG for a new set but it's OOP so I just hope they have some.

Hi Al,

That engine looks so very real, it should start and run...

Sorry to hear about the decals, here's hoping they do manage to find some, although, even if they haven't, the truck looks fandidilyastic as it is...

Thanks to all for your comments.
Speedracer: The dump truck is 1:64. It 's quite small, but I have two other trucks in 1:32. Those have much more detail.

Andy: Here is one of a myriad of "Deco Tora" that roam the roads here in Japan. Deco Tora stands for Decorated Truck.

Al: Your project is looking very good indeed. You did a great job on the wheels. The chrome lug nuts highlighted against the red wheels is really nice touch.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

At the moment there is no RANDT decal on the other side, since if Revell do have a set to send me, then that decal has to go in the last and second last panel to the rear of the far side. If they don't have one, then the decal I have will go in the corresponding panels on the far side.

And since it normally takes about six weeks to get anything from ROG, this will be finished long before then.

Cole, you surely do have colourful dump trucks. Are they privately owned? or are they owned by your local authorities? as they are over here.

This is typical of a UK dump truck, or as we call them 'Bin Wagons'.

Got the front end tin work done. Not a very good fit, though I did my best with it.

The black at the cab end looks odd but is in fact correct:

Al:
Here in Japan, company trucks, such as bin wagons retain their stock appearance. Most if not all of the blinged out trucks are owned by independent operators. The bin wagons are called "Gomeeshuushuusha".
