Thanks for the comments, guys!

Still making some progress. I made some front brake disks on the lathe and used some white metal calipers I had. I then plumbed them with some Pro Tech braided line and Tee fitting. I still have one more line to run up to the front once I get the sway bar in. the disks are a little thick, but buried inside the wheel, you won't be able to see the thickness. Once I get the wheels ready to fit, I'll trim the axle stubs. I hope the pictures aren't too large for you guys. Fotki made me upgrade from a free account, so the pics are original sized. Not sure that's a good thing!!!

I also got the engine wired. I used a Morgan Automotive Detail (MAD) resin pre-wired distributor with the correct color that matches my reference shots for this particular car. It's actually a magneto, but still had a distributor-style cap, so this works, but I had to lengthen the body with some aluminum tube.
I had to get it wired before I can put the exhaust pipes on, or there's no way I could get in there later.

So beautiful.  I wish there had been more open wheel car kits!  I miss so many that never got to become kits!  Thanx for this one, and done so well!

Thanks for the comments, Harron. I managed to get a little more bench time in lately. I added a Pro Tech Mallory coil, and made a decal for it. Used some Pro Tech detail wire and photo etch nuts to detail it up a little. I also got the headers in and used some Detail master flanges and more Pro Tech nuts to detail those as well, along with some guitar string springs for the exhaust brackets. I made a new sway bar and some rods to connect to the uprights. I'm getting closer to getting this thing on wheels!

Looking good Art. Wonderful detail work. What did you use for the plug wiring loom, the small black item holding the wires together? It looks great.

This will look fabulous when it is up on wheels!

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.

Pete, I was also asked about the tie wraps on another forum, so I have the answer for you. John Teresi gave me some of this circuit board tape years ago that I used for some of the pinstriping on my Corvette. He gave me two sizes, and I used the thinner one, although I don't know the exact size. The larger one is .040, so it's obviously smaller than that. I typically stick it to itself and glue the tab down, as illustrated below. I also used it to tie down the front brake lines, and it worked really well for that too.

Getting back to this one after the Christmas Mustang. I've been working on the Injector tubes and how I'm going to plumb them with the fuel lines to match the references. I saw some aluminum injector tubes from Detail Master that my friend, Curt Raitz, used on his Tony A2Z F5000 car and thought they would be perfect for this one, and they are. The length is just what I needed. But, the real car has a fitting welded onto the side. I took some K&S tubing and gave it a taper on the lathe, which was not easy as soft as that stuff is. I cut them and filed them down and epoxied them to the side of the tubes.

You are doing a fantastic job with this Art.

I noticed the kit has a Ford shaped bellhousing on the transaxle instead of the Chevy shaped one.
The engine is obviously a small block Chevy. Any ideas if they used a Ford gearbox with some sort of an adapter?

Art, the injector fittings look great. Very realistic. This is turning out awesome!

I never use the K&S aluminum, as it is a dead soft aluminum alloy. There is a local metal place that one can buy 6061-T6 by the foot in various diameters. This alloy cuts like butter, but then I suppose you already know this!

Interesting observation, Mitch. I'm pretty sure it's just an inaccuracy in the kit as opposed to a replica of what was really used. The gearbox I know is from the MPC Gurney Eagle kits, and it is the incorrect gearbox for this car, and even though it mates to a Ford engine in that kit, that kit has no bellhousing at all. So, the kitmaker probably just made it up.

Yeah, it's no good to machine. Thanks for looking, Pete!

I'm still plugging away at this one, trying to make the Grand National Roadster Show this weekend.

A while back, I scratch-built a fuel pump that comes off the back of the distributor. I finished it up so I could plumb the fuel lines to the injectors. I also made the fittings for the injector tubes.

Thanks for looking!

Looking great with the wonderful detail.

Good luck at the Grand National show this weekend. I have a friend from here who is going down for the show.
