AMT's horrible 1972 GTO.

The interior isn't too bad. Added pedals, indicator stalk & the bump in the steeing column for the ign switch. Parts bin gear lever.

The laughingly titled 'engine'gets a parts box carby, distributor, alternator & fan. Plug leads & boots from fine wire.
Heater hoses to come, ditto PCV. Built an air cleaner from 2 in the parts box. Not great, but better than AMT's attempt at it.

The body gets drip rails added, they are still curing & I'll sand them to size. That's the theory, this is uncharted waters for me.

The rear bumper is WAY too wide. Cut in half at the number plate area, filled, sanded & BMF'd. The number plate will hide the rest of the
butchery........

The front track is too narrow. No room to pass a metal axle through, so these spacer blocks are curing, to be sanded into respectability later on.

I agree it wasn't the greatest of kits, but it did come with some of the later model 'Judge' decals.

Nice work.

Nice work on the fixes Chris!

Not polished, but there's the start of some shininess.

And a shout out to Steve for the tyres! Thanks again.

Its shiney! Tamiya Orange, straight from the can. Its a little darker than I wanted but it will suffice. It got a hood tacho from the parts bin as well.

Let it cure for a while & a gentle polish. Not sure if I'll have it finished before I leave for my week at the Bathurst 1000.

Gear to pack, car & trailer to service..............

Good lesson on the Goat.  I hadn't seen one, and the errors by AMT are disappointing.  Who knows why they do what they do.  Great work saving an orphan brand (R.I.P. GM products).

On its wheels for a stance check. The grill & lights are in. BMF next. Generally I do the BMFing in small doses- lots of concentration required there.

I was being unfair, this horrible kit is MPC's fault, not AMT.
Sunday's update. On its chassis, curing. Glass in, most BMF done, just the rockers, bonnet rear & door handles to come.

It's had a light polish. Hoses & air cleaner are next on the list. The alleged Pontiac 400 or 455 looks more like a SBC than a Pontiac engine.
