PostSubject: F-102 Convair F-102   Fri 19 Jun 2015, 2:24 am

This is the last of the last. I am going to move this to the head of
the class. I have wanted to do one of these for years, I finally scored
on the Pro Modeler 1/48 F-102 case X wing. I will finish up the C-130 Hercules
when the decals come in, should be tomorrow, then work on this and the Kenworth
W900. The rest of the projects will be on hold, I need a "vacation" from all the
glue and filling. Also need to do my yard work and home improvement, man cannot
live on styrene alone.---John

Thank you. This is one of my all time favorites along with the F-106. I have
been wanting to do this for years but it is OOP and hard to find. It is also very
well detailed with lots of interior detailing, missiles and missile bays. It does include
the IR seeker that goes on the nose but the decals they give are for aircraft that
didn't use the infra red system. I am thinking of getting aftermarket decals, possibly
Texas ANG and doing Dubya's, Pres. George W. Bush, plane he flew when he was in
the Texas Air Guard from 68 t0 71. Hope that used the IR sensor.---John

I'm looking forward to it. The F-102 is a favourite of mine, but I'm a sucker for all of Convairs
beautiful delta winged wonders.

I think I saw one of these in the Pacific Aviation Museum. Look forward to seeing what you do with this.

I have a start on this. The afterburner can is in the fuselage and the fuselage
halves are assembled. I just finished detail painting the cockpit. Quite well detailed.
This is not going to be a quick one. Lots of work on the missiles, launchers and doors.---John

Not sure if it needs it. I know F-4 Phantom IIs don't require ballast and I
think this has a similar stance, I think.---John

I have the wings on and some gaps in the wings puttied. Here comes the fun, sand
both sides of the top wing then sand bottom where glue oozed out. I am going to slow
the pace a bit, also decided not to do missile bay open. Too much work and where I display
this it could easily get damaged. Way too many small swing arms, braces and doors, it would
be a nightmare to handle it, I am like a bull in a china closet sometimes.---John
