Phew... what a mouthful!!!!

Anyway, I started this one about a year back but for some reason it got put back into the box. Time to get it out again methinks.

1:35 Tamiya kit:

Construction I'd say is at about 50%

Tonight I did some basic detail painting on the control panel:

Typicaly, it's not easy to see when the hull is closed up but it CAN be seen so it had to be detailed a little.

Construction is complete......

......... and with all the stowage etc mocked in place......

The eagle eyed will spot that I have removed the P/e mesh on the turret and used the styrene frame with some me supplied mesh. The P/e just looks far too perfect and fine in this application IMO.

....... all of which will be removed for painting and weathering the vehicle.

I would love to go camping is something like this. You could blow up feral pigs and foxes without leaving the vehicle

It has such a long name and then at the end of it, it tells you 'Fu', not very nice.

Now the real fun begins: Weathering.

As it's going to be a desert vehicle, there is not going to be any rust but rather 'chipping'.

After priming I applied two coats of Tamiya Dark Grey (XF-24) which will be the colour of the 'chipping'

Then, using a small piece of sponge dipped in Liquid Maskol.....

....... I dabbed it on all the ridges/high spots where I thought chipping would occur:

I'll leave it to dry overnight and apply the main colour tomorrow.

Next I gave it two light coats of white just to prevent the dark grey darkening the Dark Yellow too much. This was followed by some pre-shading with matt black:

Next I covered the white areas in Tamiya Dark Yellow:

This was followed by several light mist coats until I had the preshading where I wanted it:

Finally for tonight, I removed the Maskol with Blu Tak to reveal the chipping:

In the photos I see a few areas where I missed removing the Maskol. I may yet remove them OR leave them as is to represent flaking paint!!

Railing around the outside, round hole in the top, it DOES look like a "spa-wagon."  Just fill with water and let the desert heat it and you've got a hot tub!  Some beer, watch the sun set over the desert, now that's camping!

Thanks guys.

Not sure yet John but my build year planner has nothing penciled in for July, so maybe then!!

A small but significant update I feel.

The styrene camo net roll, left a lot to be desred I feel, so I covered it with a layer of common old style bandage.

Do i hear a multiple Tiger build in the making? .... i could be persuaded if the invites there.

Nice job on the cargo netting, i have the same question as Paul ..... Tea??

Always good to have a couple of assam teabags to stew and use in weathering, easy way to create old stained wood from stirrers and lollysticks

I don't see why not Colin, assuming John is cool with it. We could make it a Member Group Build.
