Here is the completed build of Pyro Model's 1966 molding of HMS Ark Royal (repopped by LifeLike).  It was the flagship of Lord High Admiral Howard of Effingham in the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.  It destroyed the Spanish fleet again in 1596 in a raid on Cadiz.  The design is an older one evidenced by the much higher center of gravity that caused severe listing in storms.  Later design resulted in a single deck height with more ship below the waterline.

The model has a couple of problems with proportions, mainly in the cannon size.  Also, the lower shrouds were all a standard molded size, the forward ones not fitting in anywhere.  So, I cut the lines off the top and replaced with wire and thread.  Only the mid mast kept all five rows of the shroud.

Thanks for looking and for the comments.
Mike

The detail painting on the stern of my ship is eating my lunch. Yours looks excellent. Great job.

You did a terrific job on such a tiny ship Mike and I think your detail painting holds up well in the macro photography too!!

I love the first rear view photo!!

With so many areas of color, one would think it was huge.  When I see how small it is I know how much careful painting it took!  Congrats!

Here is the HMAS Nizam based on the Revell 1/700 kit of the HMS Kelly. The kit shows the Nizam in 1940 based on a drawing of the ship from Webb's Warships.

Nice job on that tiny ship. BTW - what are the two ships alongside it in the last photo? They are really miniscule and detailed.

Nice little ship Chris ....

Didn't you have time to paint any figures, or is your microscope broken ????

Thanks Mike, the two little boats are British Vosper MTBs made by Pitroad. I made them many years ago, they are 1/700 scale and come with two PT boats and two E boats.

Thanks Buck.

Thanks Colin, there are some guys who do put figures on these things. But at my age fiddling with PE and crew figures in this scale is hard work!
