Thanks both.

I'm kinda thinking about changing the colour to something a little more 'custom'. Maybe Candy Apple Green, Candy Yellow or Deep Metallic Blue. All with a solid white roof.

What do you lot think?

Personally I have always thought candy green was brilliant. It would be great on this car.

I can understand you wanting to change the color. It seems like everyone of these I see at model shows is Red. The Candy Green sounds like a killer deal to me. The stance it just perfect. You nailed it my friend.

Thanks guys.

The body and bonnet are taking a bath, going to go with the Candy Apple Green and a white roof.

Not sure about Pearl White though John!!

I REALLY like the idea of the candy apple green, with or without white pearl.

@John.

The engine in this kit comprises of no less than 28 pieces and has to be one of the best I have seen in a kit.

Apart from the block and heads, most of the other parts you see in this mockup, just click into place.

Haven given us a 28 part engine, Mobeius decided to mold in the coil to the inlet manifold.... go figure!!!

Very nice. Even the detail on the old Powerflite Transmission is outstanding. The transmission was a 2 speed version of the Torqueflite that came down the road later.

That kind of detail is what I always look for in a kit. It's a shame Tamiya don't pay as much attention to theirs. I'm watching this build carefully.

After I stripped the paint I noticed that the bonnet was warped a little:

Five minutes work with the kettle and I had it straightened:

Then it was time to lay down the new base colours. Pearl White roof over Candy Apple Green. Gloss coats tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks guys.

Had a little disaster. When painting the gold parts of the engine, I must have got some on my hands!!!

However, with some judicious soft masking, I was able, with the use of a .3mm AB, to blow in some silver followed by several coats of the clear green and make it go away.

Then I applied the 2k gloss coats.

Thanks both.

Finished the engine.

I added plug leads, coil lead, hard and flexi fuel lines, battery earth lead, dynamo wires, starter wires and power steering reservoir hose.

I also plumbed and wired the brake servo/master cylinder.
