PostSubject: Stephenson's Rocket's   Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:08 pm

Hi all here is my dio of Stephenson's Rocket's.
I had an idea after going to the science museum and seeing his Rocket as it is there, it bares no resemlence to how we see it in the history books, so I thought what if they were both together and I devised a cunning plan, I also thought what if I could incorporate that first tragic accident in the dio as well.
Here is what I came up with.

Cool dio. I really like the work train portion of it. Assuming the crane was scratchbuilt?

the trains are both Dapol Stephensons Rocket I had to do a fair amount of work to get the black one to look like she does in the science museum, and yes the crane is scratch built.
Thanks for taking the time to look

Good looking diorama. I am not familiar with Stephenson's Rocket's. Doesn't look like a happy ending for everyone. Excellent workmanship.

The poor guy under the train is William Heskesson (may have spelt his name wrong there) he was the first fatality caused by a train. He was a councillor and had a disagreement with a fellow councilor, he saw the other councilor on another train and got off his one to try and smooth over the disagreement, didn't seen the other train coming and had his leg cut off. Stephensons Rocket raced him to the hospital but he died. I think that's the history of that accident. Been a long time since my history days at school, but that's the gist of it, and (with a little artistic licence) that's what I've tried to depict here.

That is exactly the story the diorama depicts. Thanks for the reply on that.
