While I'm waiting for things to dry on the C.B. I thought I would find the dragster to go with it and I did. Monogram's reissue of the sizzler

Box art

Parts count

I'll doing the Slingster version with one mod. Won't have a 392 Hemi but will have a injected 427 SOHC and be painted the same color as the 40 Ford SD along with a Testors trailer

Been wanting to build this for a long time so here goes

Good luck with it John.

I like the Bantam body best.

Looks so similar to the dragster in the "Double Dragster" kit (dragster and Fiat). I'd opt for the competition coupe version as an early '60s machine. I will be at the finish line waiting for this one!

I have this kit but haven't opened it up yet. Now I don't have to. Can't wait to see your take on it.

Thanks for the kind words guy's

Got started on the frame which I heard was a real pain to do, just used 3 of the center cross members to start. after cleaning them and the frame rails I glued them together, then I used the bottom cockpit floor to keep it straight

then I set the bottom front panel on just to double check the frame

so far so good as they say. Going to use the 427 SOHC from a Mustang AFX kit, already has the injection manifold but has a 4 spd. which I will be taking off and using the in/out box that comes with the kit ( have to cut it off the hemi block and cut the 4pd off the SOHC ) then put it in a bag and shake real hard ...... done ( right )
Should have some more done by this week end I hope

Awesome! I was going to build one of these for the GSL this year, but I just won't have time. So I am just going to watch your build instead!

Looking good John. Frames like these can often be tricky to assemble but it looks like you've done a good job.

A good start, getting this first lot straight is going to provide a good foundation for the rest of the build.

I got the front axle mount in after 3 tries and then I sanded off the pins for the frame for the 3rd try and got it straight, taped the bottom front panel on so it would stay straight

got the in/out box cut off the hemi, added a .015 plate on the engine side and glued the box to the clutch hosing

got the 4 spd cut off the SOHC and cut the molded on starter off also ( no starter just push start ) then I filled the hole with 2 strips of plastic and a little filler putty, haven't finished it off yet but this is where I'm at

got the chrome eng. parts being dechromed and if I have a chance will work on it tomorrow .
After about 2 hrs. of searching I fond the trailer and yes it was at the bottom of the pile, normal

Thanks for looking and til next time

Haven't come across any issues yet

Been working on the 427 SOHC, Have a couple more things to get done and find a fuel pump so far this is where I'm at

and the mag. and crank damper

and both 427's waiting for their home to get done ( 40 SD and this one )

got a little more to do on both engines and I'm working on the frame and body which is about ready for paint.

Thanks for looking and your nice comments

looking good! I prefer the blue block, more character. Will be good to see them finished and in place. Good luck in your horsepower quest!

I got the body panels ready for paint and it came to me that I never had the eng. in the chassis or with the body panels on so here is what they look like mocked up

the only thing I had to do was sand some off the bottom of the oil pan ( which needs a little more ) and it fit in their pretty good. Going to have a paint day soon and see what it looks like then

It's looking great John.

Are the stacks the same electrical bootlace ends I use?

Al, I really don't remember where or when I got these at

I do remember that they had 7", 10" and 12" stacks and I got some of the 7" & 10" and these are the 10" ones

Grouchy, I haven't even thought about a name yet but the short wheel base and the SOHC would be a hand full with the in/out box
