PostSubject: I'm sitting at my bench.......   Mon 06 Oct 2014, 10:06 am

....... occasionally looking out the window in the stable door that leads to the courtyard. Outside, the rain is lashing down, the wind is howling and thousands of leaves are coming off the trees in the copse to the side of the house.

But I have a lovely warm feeling inside me, because I don't have to go out in it to work, I can do those outside jobs as soon as the weather clears and not when time dictates and I can sit here building as much or as little as I like.

Yes, it's not all bad when you retire. Not all bad at all.

Enjoy the rat race people.

I haven't been part of the rat-race for 5 years now.

I sold up and moved, big decision..... But so far it's worked out.

The most I want to do today is drive a couple of miles and buy some lego for the grandson for Xmas.

Al, I could look out that window all day. Your home is older than my country, lovely place.

Hi Al,

We had all that yucky weather down here all yesterday and last night, so I thought I'd share it with you, hope you don't mind...

The view I have is this...: -

Retirement suits some, and others not. It seems keeping busy and challenged just enuf and keeping physical activity going are important. As we age it's hard to keep the weight off too. Let's all stay healthy!

I've been retired so long (1994) that I have pretty much forgotten what it was to have to do things on a schedule. Some guys say it took them a while to adapt to retirement; for me the time to adapt was about 30 seconds. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Retirement is a gift that I hope to someday enjoy. I just turned 2 weeks ago 50 so I have a ways to go.

I took early retirement @ 55, had all the right numbers. That was back in 2003. Hardest part about retirement is trying to leave the condo before 10 in the morning, LOL. I do volunteer work twice a week at a military museum and am on strata council of my building. I agree with Jeff J. that "Retirement is a gift".
Cheers Eh!

By special request here are some photos of the Lt.Gen. Ashton Armoury Museum.
11 Service Battalion is a Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve. The Museum exhibits include uniforms, weapons, art works, maps , photos, models dioramas, etc. representing the men and women who have served past and present. Also a collection of running vehicles (approx.12) from WW2 forward.

Hi Mr I.O.K,

Thank you so much for sharing these little tasters with us, looks like an interesting museum, shame it's a little to far away to pop over for a look around...

Thank you again...

Andy...

P.S...May I "special request" some more too please...

Hello Skid
In the near future I will post more pics of trench art. At the museum we are gearing up for "Remembrance in Scale" a public event held at the Armoury Nov. 8 and 9, just before Remembrance Day, that will have modellers invited to display their military models. Not a contest, only display. We will share the floor with Canadian Armed Forces personnel from Service Battalion, a recruitment opportunity for them, with their equipment. We will bring in our vintage vehicles besides the new stuff. The trench art will be brought out for display in memory of WW1, this being the 100th anniversary.
Cheers Eh!
