The old Johan kit, getting a full restoration. I'll send the wheels & bumpers to be replated, meanwhile it was a fine sunny winters day at home.

No work today so out came the Tamiya Mica Blue. Here she is, just touch dry. Did the dash too.

Some BMF later today on the dash. I'm debating the merits of a vinyl roof, but I think it would be too much- the strip along the body sides
is anodised aluminium so it would make it too 'busy' I think.

Sweet. The BMF will really look good with that color Blue.

Mica Blue is a great color choice and doesn't need the vinyl top for a striking build.

Great restoration choice.

Wired the dizzy, added an oil filler & a power steering filler& a fuel line. I'm toying with the late model mags.

Got all the window openings BMF'd. Headliner from masking tape- as a trial & added sunvisors. Mirror scratch build tomorrow.

Not sure yet, I might get the stock wheel covers replated.

Too wet today to paint the interior- its going to be a dark blue.

It looks great Chris and the Mica Blue is perfect for it.

I don't normally like big wheels on classics but those ones are the exception.

Well done.

The Mica Blue looks great, Chris.

I'm not a fan of the bigwheels, but they seem to fit very nicely inside that Johan body/chassis.

Good job.

What Al and Mike said. I'm not a fan of big wheels either, but for some reason they work here.

The color is great on that body style. really great. Like the others I am not a fan of big wheels. Just an old school guy thing I guess.

I see promos (usually pricey) at some of the meets, but never thought of "improving" them with refurbishing. Good idea and some of the more rare ones would have been good as "stock" class racers in our last group build.

Interior in royal blue & Dulcote. Some BMG to bling it up. Window & quarter vent winders from the parts bin. I'm going to add front armrests & door handles.

Not much else one can do with these old interiors. As made it had 4 parts. The tub, steering wheel, & dash & gear lever.
Going to double that at least with sunvisors, centre mirror, indicator stalk and the above mentioned armrests & window winders.
There should be a wide swath of brushed aluminium along the door trims. No way could I manage that, short of butchering the interior apart. So it will have to suffice as is.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks guys. In my haste last night I glued the interior in, forgetting the armrests. Oh well, it can stay armrest less. Ditto the acelerator pedal.

Been busy BMFing it. Lots of thin chrome mouldings on this baby!

And one more to bore you with.

Something I never noticed before is that the rear quarters bulge outwards very slightly in plan view. Subtle but its there. Follow the two side mouldings along & you'll see what I mean.

Cheers,

Chris
