Building as part of a 'British GB' on another site.

Revell kit of the 1964 1071cc Paddy Hopkirk Monte winning car.

Nothing to show yet apart from some Revell photos and a photo of the engine bay of the real deal:

How could Revell get those HT leads so far out of scale?

I have the Tamiya Rally version. Does it by chance be the same kit, just repackaged for ROG ?

No Sam, it's a totally new kit. I'll try to give differences as I build it.

I'm blown away by the Revell's quality (wiring aside). Considering the assumed price difference between the Tamiya and Euro-Revell, it's a beauty!

Looks like there's the option for excellent detail work under the hood!

Haven't forgotten about this one. Just been busy cleaning up parts (160 of them) in the background. Now ready for primer/paint and assembly.

Looks a better kit than the two I've just built.
The door cards are full length for one thing, the Tamiya jobs I had just had the front door cards, looked a bit "short and missing" when you get it together.

And away you go and start painting young man.........

Ps, do we have snakeskin seat covers on this lol.?

Keeping those for a custom job Colin.

All of the parts are now painted so assembly can commence.
Here is the body in my usual 2k gloss coat.

Those Euro-Revell kits are nearly on par with Tamiyas! I wish they were more available here, so more would be built. I see a few at model convention/sales, but prices are still up there. Good luck!

Except for the plug wires, that model looks great. I was impressed with the stitching detail on the seats.

Thanks guys.

Getting back to this one now and been plugging away at the engine. It's now finished and installed in the chassis.

I have added HT leads for plugs and coil, (made from craft wire) brake and clutch hudraulic pipes from the master cylinders, (made from some fine copper wire) windscreen washer bottle tubes (made from clear fishing line) and oil cooler hoses (made from fine silicone tube)

I also lost the kit electrical control box so had to make a new one in three layers of styrene. I also wired it too with three wire. (Again from craft wire)

Thanks guys.

Colin..... I've seen people attempt to replicate water in the water bottles with paint but never seen it done remotely convincing.

SO... you'll just have to pretend the water bottles are solid white and not translucent!!! or consider them totally full so you don't see a water line

here's a thought .... you know the little clear wine/beer bottles you get with some 1/35th tank kits (the churchill for example), how about using one of those and just tint the lower half to simulate some blueish screen wash.

*edit*

these........
