PostSubject: Ongoing MASH diorama   Wed 05 Mar 2014, 5:57 pm

This is my ongoing MASH dio, it's 4ft x 3ft and there's still a fair bit to do with it, livestock, groundwork, bushes/trees etc, few more figures the list goes on.
It started out as a couple of smaller separate dios (the MASH camp and the workshop) but i decided to push the boat out and incorporate them into a larger base.

Ive tried to include lots of little details from the series (e.g. Radar, Hawkeye with his golf club, BJ's "yellow" motorcycle, Father Mulcahy sitting at his desk) theres a few more ideas i have to add that wont make it too over cluttered (hopefully)

Anyway ... for your entertainment and constructive critisism ......

All the buildings have lighting .. a few dodgy night shots.

I'll get some macro close ups tomorrow when i have natural light.

Great looking dio Colin. How long since you started it?

Thanks for that Al.
I completed the workshop early last year and the smaller MASH dio was always being added to so i thought i'd put them all together and have a bit more room, i started on the large base (pictured here) this January
The smaller MASH dio was one that i was always faffing with, never quite happy.... now i've increased the size i think i'll be messing even more heh heh

Its just a small shrub type thing,  although it could pass as a bonsai,  nice idea.
Thanks for the comment.

Hi Colin,

WOW, it look's great Sir, I just love looking at this as each time I do I see something new which I missed previously, and now you have added the larger base I am sure it will be an on going project for a fair while...

Thanks Andy.

Now then ... i've been told by Al that if i dont put up the photos in full (not thumbnails) i'll be beaten within an inch of my life with a wet kipper, then marinated in a bucket of cold custard (or words to that effect) .... i dont fancy that so here's some closer shots in full.

Great stuff Colin, I love all of it BUT..............

You need Clinger in a dress, Radar with a mountainous tray of food and most of all (keep this under your hat) Hotlips in the shower!!!! LOL

Clinger is on the back burner, got a nice dressed figure just need to get an unshaven head to stick on it.
I did actually think of having Radar in a tent with a huge tray of food but decided to put him sitting in jeep clinging onto a bag looking scared witless.

Hmmm Hotlips....now then.... i may have a cunning plan my lord.

Thanks for the nice word people.

Fantastic work! It looks like maybe it's in 1/35th scale. In any case it takes up considerable space. I saw M*A*S*H at the theater when it came out and I knew film and our culture had taken a new path. Thanx. Thumbnails aren't so bad, I think we're used to them by now.
Last, hasn't snowed here in Illinois in a few days, Winter is losing its grip, while we gripe.

Thanks harron,
Yes it's 35th scale, forgot to mention that in the intro.... Oooops.
It is on the large side but fits nicely under the twin beds in the guest room.

Looks Fun - and the kind of thing that is never finished, as it can be added to all the time.

I'm forever faffing with it ash, the scenery always seems to need something doing to it or I have an idea a figure might look better with a repaint or moved slightly.

Thanks for the comment.

I just saw the boxed DVD boxed set of this show today in my local Kmart. Nice work Colin, obviously a work of love.

The TV show is my favorite of all time and it's what got me interested in the Korean conflict.
It was so well made, covering all the emotions of the people involved.

I try to find kits that, with a little modification, depict a vehicle used in the period, hence the recent DUKW build.

Thanks for the input.

Me too Colin. I've watched all 256 episodes numerous times. However, there are two episodes I just don't watch any more: The final episode and the one where Henry Blake goes home. Just too emotional for me!!

As they were for the cast too Al, I get watery eyes at "goodbye, farewell and amen"

Memories of MASH was on true entertainment channel last night, some brilliant interviews with cast members, well worth Watching if you get chance.
