I like the snow on top of the wall. That really works. On the smooth rocks at the base, they're almost too smooth. With a bit more snow on they'd fit in better and change shape.
Men need finishing and maybe mud on treads and lower areas, then a superior diorama is done!

If you make the snow deep enough, and put a shovel in the hand of the guy standing on the ground, then we will know its a Government job. wrote:

Al, over here we have Government, or State ran construction. Like Roads/highways/Interstates. When menial labor is involved, like operating a shovel. There are always 3-4 guys standing around "supervising" the one guy operating the shovel. So when your driving through a road construction area, and you see this scenario, you know its not a private contractor, its a State job.

I get that, we have the same over here.

But how does that relate to this:

Hmmm...... must be Yank humour!!  001

I made a start on the snow drift at the base of the wall:

.... but I still wasn't happy with it, so I kept at it. I also covered the wall in snow. (Needn't have done all the preliminary work need I??  )

It's not perfect but I'm happy to be on a learning curve.

Well it's time to move on to the tank winter camo.

I started by applying a few coats of Tamiya XF24. (Dark Grey)

This is what I am going to be attempting. Never done it before and it's kind of daunting. Still, it's a challenge and I like a challenge.

This is the first of six. I'll post each before each step.

Thanks must go to Paul (Beowulf) for his help with this and for sending this link to six short 'Winter Camo' YouTube vids.

Base grey applied.

Final stage for the base was to add some tufts of grass poking through the snow.

Al:  Great dioramas recently, but please please tell me you aren't slipping over to the dark side.

I started on the winter camo to-day.

My effort:

I think I took maybe a bit too much off in places but I'm pleased enough for my first attempt.

I think it looks great, but then again what do I know. LOL. I have never built a tank or done weathering like that.

This is the next stage:

Treads need "gunking" but all else is better than I could have hoped. Very good snow technique. I always wanted to try a winter rally car scene, but this is better!

That's a fine kit Al, and you're doing it justice. It's an attractive little tank, and with the overlapping
wheels, reminds me of a miniature Tiger.
