Since it's a bike, I'll start with this one.

Man this kit is big and it has big parts. Fortunately, AMT have done a good job and the molding is crisp with very little flash, sink marks etc, so clean up  is fast and the fit is good too.

This is where I'm at...

Torso:

Legs:

Arms:

Head:

Communications pack:

Other bits:

It's not much to look at but the mods and painting to come, are going to be the big challenges on this one methinks!!

Nice start, Al. That kit looks enormous, in complete contrast to mine.
My kit is very small indeed, so small I'm not sure whether it really is worthy of a community build. If I get it done in a relatively short time, I may see fit to enter a second kit if no one objects.

This is what I shall be building: The Games Workshop Mordor Troll, from The Lord of The Rings.
This kit is used by most in the Warhammer games, but as an avid fan of LoTR, I build these models purely for aesthetic value. This kit can be built in a seemingly endless variety of ways, with multiple different arms, heads, weapons and attires. I have chosen a non-standard, but altogether more menacing stance than those offered on the box.

Box art

Parts that I have considered using, desprued

Assembled in my chosen pose, with sword raised and optional chest armour and shield included. The second photo gives you an idea of just how small he is along with one of my small collection of completed Uruk Hai.

For ease of painting, the breastplate and shield will be painted separately and glued on afterwards, preventing the creation of unpaintable crevices.

With all the assembly done, I set about puttying the seams for the second time. I'll leave this to cure properly this time, then begin painting

Base coat of paint on the breastplate and shield. I'm using Tamiya paints for the time being, until I can borrow some Citadel paints from my lovely better half, who introduced me to building these.

That's all for now, more to come shortly!

I sure do envy those that can work in the braille scales. I sure have trouble with them.

My eye is a little better to-day. Not so much so as to be able to see small 1/25 parts, but good enough for this monster.

All of the sub assemblies are complete and I have moved on to making the required modifications.

This is how AMT intended it to be built:

And here are my modifications to get the look I want:

This allows me to re-position the droid into a more streamlined psotion.

Next up will be to re-site the wings and the engines and then fab up some 'stirrups.

Nice start, Al. Glad to hear your eye's in a better state.
I much prefer that position to the box art.

Time for me to show you guys me progress to date.
I had intended to post this a lot earlier, but just couldn't drag myself away from working on it.
At any rate, here we are; my Mordor Troll.

The first task was simple, sanding back the putty to the seam lines. Once this was finished, the whole figure got an undercoat of Semi-gloss black.
The figure is shown here with three little arrows embedded in him. These were easy to make: just take a sliver of bamboo skewer, roughly cylindrical, make a cut in one and and slide in a paper fletching with a little CA.

Next up was the armour, base coated in Chrome Silver, then brushed with thinned Metallic Grey, with more still to come.

At this point I realised that every time I set the Troll down, I'm in danger of damaging the black base coat, as he does not balance on his feet. With this in mind, I started on the base.
First a coat of a muddy looking brown, then I applied PVA liberally, before pouring on Games Workshop grass. If attempting, make sure you place the base in something to catch the overspill, or you will be finding the stuff for months. Next the same process was applied more locally and grit added to replicate stones and shale. Lastly, I added a few weapons that were spare from another Warhammer build, including some fine fishing line to replicate the bowstring.

It was then a simple matter of adding CA to the Troll's feet and gluing him to the base, to help with painting, which will resume shortly.

That's looking great Dan. So tiny too. Nice one. Wouldn't want to mess with that guy though!!

I almost bottled out changing the rider position on this and kept procrastinating over it. Then I threw caution to the wind and made a series of holes to resite the wing........ decision made.

I'm glad I did too as I'm pleased with the way it is going.

I changed the position of the wings and resited the engines.

I turned the engines upside down too, and sited them so that those little 'fins' now rest on the deck. I'm hopeful that by placing some weight in the rear of the body and the engines, I can get it to sit on the shelf without the need for the base.

The final position will be one of these two, with me leaning to the second one:

Second pose it is then.

I figure even Droids have a ranking system, so I decided this one would be a sergeant!!

So, apart from is stripes, what else might distinguish his rank?...... a stogie of course!!! LOL.

It's time to add mine. Revell's Babylon 5 Space Station.
The battered box

Decals, these will be interesting as the common complaint I have come across is that they're very thick and hard to use.

The sub assemblies that where done back in '98 when the kit was first produced

Done some seam filling last night

Dodgy mock up

Still researching paint needed to finish it.

I think all you guys doing the Sci-Fi build are doing a great job. I am really enjoying watching the builds come together. I have never built in this genre so I think it's great003 .

Cute adding a cigar and ranks for "droids" would be real too since they likely would have specialized skills. Good so far!

Love the cigar, Al. Very nice touch.
Nice to see yours on the bench, Steve. I can't quite get my head around the scale of it, would you be able to post a scale shot for me?
